Ruger 10/22 in box scope base - Weaver?

Hey 10/22 people. I just picked up a new stainless 10/22. There's a scope base/mount/rail in the box. No mention of it in the manual.

Anybody happen to know if this is a Weaver base. Probably not picatinny.

The one that comes with it is a P.O.S., It's a Weaver "style", but the scopes come loose all the time because there is not enough rail to bite on. Try it and you'll see.

I've tried those & wont do it again, nor would I recommend it. Waste of ammo, time & money. The DNZ mounts are nice! I have a few.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

            I've had the same experience.

The UTG base is inexpensive and works well.

Everyone's experience is different. When I bought my 10/22 I bought a scope with it and the gun shop mounted it using the Ruger supplied base during the 10 day wait. fours years and about 1500 rounds later (I was away from shooting for about two years with vision problems) I haven't had any problems at all. So maybe give it a try then spend money only if you have to.

                          FYI:
I used blue loctite on the screws because they kept comming loose. This was on an after market (mid quality) rail. You have to remove the bolt to make sure the loctite does not get into the reciever area. 2 yrs and 1000s of rounds later, no issues.

It is worth it to get a better base . Nothing fancy but better. Remember the 10/22 should last and last.

I bought a UTG and it wasn't picatinny compatible although it says it is. Ended up with a tactical solutions base and I'm very pleased with it.
