Let's talk rimfire

What up guys, just wanted to find out what is or was your favorite rimfire rifle/pistol? Do you guys have any memorable moments with them? Please feel free to share.

My favorite rimfire pistol is my stainless Ruger 22/45.

It's the early model w/o the LCI.

My favorite rimfire rifle is my Savage Mark II FSS; this may change when I get my Ruger American rimfire.

I'm waiting for a stainless model.

Only rimfire so far-Ruger 22/45 blued. Almost bought a 10/22 a while back. But, can't feed it these days, so no reason to get a rifle to let it sit in it's box.

Heck, haven't even fired my 22 much since about a year ago. I think once a few months ago when we had a new shooter join us for the day.

I grew up shooting the Ruger 10 /22 and got really good with it. my best friend had a Marlin 60 ,he had a scope & I didn't and it was still a close call and lots of fun competing against each other & both were reliable guns.

as for 22 handguns, I learned that your thumb got sore & red from feeding lots of .22 s into the semi- sharp feeding lips of most magazines.(that was when 22 ammo was cheap and plentiful.)
so I prefer to use a 22 revolver for fun or target shooting, instead of the semi auto pistols. I love the high-end rimfire revolvers like Smith and Wesson, but you don't have to break the bank to get a fun .22 revolver.

there are lots of them still out there relatively inexpensive (if you're not in California.)...High standard, Harrington and Richardson, Iver Johnson are some of the older revolver brands that had nice 22's.
nowadays there's Taurus, New England firearms (- although I'm not sure if they're still producing.) and maybe one or two others.

My favorite rimfire handgun is my Sig 1911-22 that has seen some modifications - trigger job, etc.

My favorite rimfire rifle is my M&P 15-22 with some upgrades.

Nothing special or memorable moments with either. Although each one has had 4,000 rds through their barrel

I agree with the Henry lever gun. I own the frontier model and man that thing is always fun to shoot. I purchased a Skinner peep sight for it and shoots very true. I remember purchasing a sack of potatoes and going out with my Henry out to the BLM....watching those potatoes blow up when struck gave me the giggles.
Haha awesome times. I have not owned a pistol yet but hopefully in the near future.

Pistol-ruger mkii slab side stainless target model. Scary accurate.

Rifle-marlin 39a circa '56. Bought it for $100. Accurate, handles great, fun to shoot. I like to take a box of lemons off my buddies trees and set up a little shooting gallery.

Saved up my money from a summer job and slapped down the $99 +tax on one in 1980. Still have it.
The only thing giving out is my ability to see the original sights. Just bought a nikon 4X scope to help out with that.

Remington Model 510 Targetmaster single shot. My Dad bought it new when he was 15 (1942) and gave it to me when I was about the same age. The thing is a tack driver, I've never shot another gun as well as I shoot it. When my Dad gave it to me the stock was a bit beat up, so I refinished it. I found that he had carved his initials under the butt plate when I took it apart. It was cool to watch him recall sitting on a rock in the woods carving on the stock. I gave the gun to my son when he turned 18 but it still sits ready in my safe. Hopefully he carries on the tradition.
