    My first 22 pistol!!!

Picked this beauty up yesterday. Just got back from the range and it was shooting high and I forgot my tools to adjust the sights so I'll do that tomorrow on paper. First impressions, I love it. It ate everything with no issues, even the remington thunder bolts I think they are called. The ergonomics are awesome and it's really accurate when you know where to hold. The stock trigger is fine for me and the magazines are too but I noticed sometimes if the round isn't angled properly it won't cycle and you have to be sure the mag is fully seated. Also I noticed they can be hard to load and my fingers are a little tender from consistently using that magazine tab. The main thing I don't like about it is the front sight. My sister painted the rear with white nail polish and that helped a ton but I was wondering if anyone has painted the front sight successfully since it is a smooth surface?

Awesome. Be sure to grab a hammer bushing.

Great choice--You might consider (after living with the gun for a while) ditching the magazine disconnect by installing a Tandemkross or other aftermarket bushing. That mag disconnect system is what often causes the magazine to not quite seat properly, because it's constantly pushing down slightly on the magazine. Can also contribute to the feed problems/ needing that exact angle on the first round. I experienced that early on with some hollow points, especially Golden Bullets. If I didn't have just the right angle, it would slam into the bottom of the feed ramp. Since I've eliminated the mag disconnect, I don't have that problem, all because the mag is sitting 1 mm or so higher up in the gun. Painting the front sight will help. It's not like painting a house, where it's a bitter disappointment if it doesn't last 10 years. If it flakes off, paint it again. Enjoy your 22/45. I have the same one, and it's a great gun.

I love mine. Dawson precision front sights are excellent! Mine has a bright red dot right now. I got green & red extra filament with my order. 30$ delivered from dawson. I did good shooting with the stock sights, after awhile though, my eyes were straining. Red dot will help!
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Yes I was looking into getting a fiber optic front sight by Dawson. Is there a specific height that I need in order to run my stock rear sights with a front aftermarket?

The magazines will be easier to seat with some wear but the hammer bushing is definitely on my list of things to do. When you take it apart & see the dawgawful conglomeration of moving & rubbing parts it will be easy to see how eliminating mag disco will improve the trigger.

You got a pretty one. Mine came with the laminated brownish grayish whatever... not attractive to my eye but I just like natural wood I guess.

If you don't like the magazine loading tabs, you should get a HKS speed loader. Makes loading much easier.

That one is gorgeous with the "brown grips". Black looks bad Ruger. Guess I better buy before the 26th.

Easily one of the best inexpensive investments in a MK series pistol.

Before you run out and buy a new front sight try a dab of white nail/ model paint an the rear face of the factory sight. Might surprise you. Very nice choice btw for a first pistol. I still have mine a Browning Challenger I bought in 1966.
