Old Blazer ammo vs New Blazer.

Before the ammo shortage I use to shoot a lot of CCI blazer bulk pks. One of my favorite bulk ammos. I found them to be very close to CCI MiniMags at about half the price. (At that time)

I recently scored some new Blazers. While shooting I was getting failure to cycle issues. This was with a buckmark that normally shoots just about anything. So I switched to some other bulk ammo . The specs on both were about the same weight and MV.
But, it was obvious from the recoil, the Blazers did not have as much punch.
So the question is: Are the new Blazers different then the old? Did I just get a bad lot? Anyone else have this experience?

I bought a case (5,250) of blazer in the bulk box(not 50 rnd packs) and they had a wax covering that was shedding and causing problems feeding and ejecting. I had to wipe each round down before loading mags.
The 50 rnd pack bricks no problems.

      Oh good grief...

OP I've seen 2 different CCI Blazer bulks. There is a black 40gr solid & a "white" 40gr solid.

I've only shot the black bullet type & it was some dam good ammo. One of the few bulks that would reliably cycle my wife's Mosquito & very accurate & reliable in my 10/22. IMO one of the better bulks.

Was the "new" stuff you were shooting the "white" lead type?

The "black" bullet type is loaded by CCI, and the "white" bullet type is by Federal. I've only shot the CCI loaded ones, and they've been fine so far. Fortunately I have a reliable semi-auto pistol that it fine with anything so far except Winchester white box.

I don't think you're supposed to wipe off that waxy stuff. That's your lube that helps keep the bore from leading up.

I've noticed this problem with most of the Federal produced .22 that I've gotten off the shelves since the panic began. Automatch, the tactical stuff in the black boxes, the red box, you name it. I've not had the same problems with anything CCI produced though, so it's all I shoot anymore. Kinda sad we're getting less quality for more $$$, but it seems to be the way of the world now.

All of the Blazer 22lr I've seen has the "black" bullets and shoots just fine in all my guns---haven't seen any of this so-called "white" bullet stuff...

Avoid shooting bulk packs in semi auto?

I shoot bulk exclusively in all my autos, no problems here. maybe its because I maintain my guns, except for my Mark III

Same here... I've never had a failure to feed or failure to eject with my CCI Blazer ammo. I have however had issues with Federal red box and Federal Champion in my SR22.

Blazers aren't technically part of the CCI line to begin with. Look at the CCI website and you won't see them. You gotta look at the Blazer website. Still haven't seen any of the Federal loaded Blazers, and I've bought a LOT of Blazers in the last 6 months.

I think it's a whole new world with 22LR ammo now. If you want good ammo you have to buy the quality brands. I think you can expect the bulk ammo to be made as cheaply and as fast as possible, don't expect it to work like bulk ammo from the past.
