10/22 front sight

I posted a wtb ad a while back, and a member here was very kind enough to send one over.
my old 10/22, had a broken front sight for a while, the bead/blade snapped off.
today I went to install the sight, knocked the old one out, but the replacements dovetail is too small, its a hair undersized which allows it to slip through the dove tail on the rifle. Did they make different sizes?

Did you knock the old one out in the correct direction? General rule for dovetailed sights is to remove from left to right. If not you may have stretched the female part of the dovetail.

Yes I did left to right. It came out the way it should
