Well, I took the H&R model 12US out for a range session last week and it fell over hitting the carpet on the forward sight, breaking off the two sight block mount screws. I was able to unscrew the broke studs out of the barrell. And, since the M12 has 2 extra mount blocks, I was able to remove the screws from one to use on the front mount. Now I'm trying to find two replacment screws to put the gun back to OEM condition. Anybody have any idea who may have these? They are a special type screw,Low head ,#6 with extra-fine threads.See pic. Thanks.

are you looking for just something that will fit, something that looks right or OEM screws?
places like Fastenal may have something that will look similar though you may need to fit it yourself, your local gunsmith should be able to make something & make it look good and if you are looking for OEM... ebay -

Try http://www.mcmaster.com/#
You can filter in the drop-downs by head style, thread pitch, material, finish, etc.Too many hobbies, Too little time.

Brownells, they are likely 6-48, like my Kimber. Ruger 10-22 base screws are also 6-48 F.Y.I.sigpic

I cant get my camera to get any kind of usable photo of this little B-turd. I'm pretty sure its a #6-48 x 1/4. The head diameter is .222" and head thickness is
.095". hex-Wrench size looks to be a 7/64.Comment

Yeah, gunsmith screws tend to have some pretty oddball thread pitches. It was worth a shot.
I actually sell fasteners for a living (electronics oriented) and I once needed some grip screws for a Sig pistol. I think they were like a 3-56 or some weird crap.
It's pretty frustrating when you have a warehouse full of fasteners to choose from and can't find one that'll work for whatever you're working on.
Happens to me a lot when I'm working on stuff at home too, I need a nut or bolt for something and end up at Home Depot because none of the 10,000 line items we have in stock are the size I need.

whipkiller, I've never understood how the oddball gunsmith threads came to be. Worse yet, is the euro metric mutant gun screws you find on cheap Turk made shotguns. It's almost like someone thought "hey, lets add an extra thread or two, just to piss off some American gunsmith trying to fix our junk!".

Yeah, I don't get it either, it's not like an industry standard screw wouldn't work.whipkiller, I've never understood how the oddball gunsmith threads came to be. I firmly believe that Engineers sometimes design in weird crap just to impress their engineer buddies.

Here you go:
I've bought and used both. Mostly to replace damaged heads on used rifles.
I've not used a 6-48 Fillister head on an H&R, but they work on my Remingtons (40Xs and M37), and my Anschutz 1411. They should work for yours too.Comment
