I buy when the price is 5 cents per round. I can't enjoy shooting .22's at 10 cents or more. I'd rather shoot .223 reloads, not much more expensive and a lot more bang for the buck.

well i guess no one would be shooting .22 then!
my local gun shop has cci green tag in stock that ammo is amazing, and at 19 bucks a 100 i still buy a pack every now and again.
Where are people getting .22lr online at decent prices, my bulk box is getting low
i cant find less than like 16c a round and thats cray cray batmanSlapping an upper onto a lower is not "building" an AR-15.
What part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do you illiterate pawns not understand!?Comment

The deals are out there if you put the time in to look. Quite a few on the forum recently scored on some ammo at about $0.05 to $0.06 per round. The key is patience.*********************
WTS:
1. PW 800+ Hydro Multispeed (just the hydraulic unit that also works with Spolar press)
2. PW 800B converted to 800C (12 gauge) with lots of accessories and upgrades
3. Hornady 366 (12 gauge)

If people would stop buying the damn 22lr for these ridiculous prices it would be on the shelfs! Spread the word stop paying more than 0.04 a round.Comment

I stopped by walmart last week and noticed they had at least one 550 Federal pack for $25 I think and at least one 225 Rem pack for $11 I think. I may be off on the prices, just what I remember seeing.
I just figured 22 was starting to come back, I didn't realize it's still hard to get.
Maybe I was just there at a lucky time.Chris

Which walmart was that? My local one has everything but 22lr. I think theres even a sign that limits 3 boxes per customer per day.I stopped by walmart last week and noticed they had at least one 550 Federal pack for $25 I think and at least one 225 Rem pack for $11 I think. Monetary inflation coupled with an ammunition economic recession fueled by consumer expectations.
A year ago, this board was lit up over the scarcity of larger caliber ammunition. That scarcity was driven by consumers who were concerned over Obama's re-election and pending legislation which may have adversely impacted ammunition purchasing. This developed into hoarders and then flippers.
Now, the larger calibers are coming back at slightly higher than pre-panic rates, as production catches up and the demand stabilizes.
However, to do this, manufacturers needed to make decisions on what to produce. Powder, lead and brass are finite raw materials available. The question was, do you build everything, or focus on the shortage of need?
Hornady made this clear last year: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com/...lance-of-2013/
As the cycle continues, .22 LR at $.02 per round sales lost out to 5.56 at $.60 per round. Then came the hoarders and then the flippers.
And here we are.
Production of .22 will come back and we will see the panic subside and the available stocks increase. Then we will see the California legislative agenda to ban internet sales and license ammo buyers, and we will begin the cycle all over.
Cheers.Last edited by Dvrjon; 06-05-2014, 8:28 AM.Comment

If the cause of the huge rinse of .22LR prices was monetary inflation, all the other ammo would also go up at the same rate.
It's far more simple than that, it's greed.
16 cents for match .22LR's? Pretty stupid when I can spend 2 more cents for a varget re-loaded .223 55 gn.
I'm on a .22LR price boycott. Yes, I have a decent stash so I'm not deperate.
Boycott high ammo prices and they will go down. Buy and keep those prices up. Stop buy 10-22's for your kids, get them into archery. Once ammo prices return, then buy.

Even though I think that's part of the problem (like 30% of the problem) the fact that people are buying it to resell it pisses me off.Comment

People buying it to resell it is the problem. There's a few members here that are doing this. There's a guy that has probably 70,000 rounds for sale yet still wants $55 a box....Comment

I am sick of these flippers especially the ones selling on cgn. I have not taken my 22's out shootin because I cant replenish my stock due to these douchebags. Even though i have decent stock I will only shoot it if I know it can be replenished easily and affordibly. Switched over to airguns and centerfire instead."Screw U guys, I'm going home"...:the great Eric Cartman
