Browning Buckmark question

I was looking at a Browning Buckmark with an eye to retiring my Woodsman after many years of service and have a (possibly very dumb) question:

On the Buckmarks with a rail on top of the receiver and barrel, is that rail integral to the gun's structure, or can it be removed and the front sight replaced? I was told that it was an integral part of the gun by a salesman, but thought I'd get a second opinion, having found Turner's people to be "not infallible".... The rail appears to be held on with two hex-head screws--if it's integral, what are those for? I believe the model I was looking at was called the "Contour."

Any help/advice greatly appreciated.

The rail on the contour is part of the gun. Other models of buckmark aren't that way.

The Contour falls of the list after today. I'm hoping that Browning will pay the extortion fees as I was planning to get one.

I was thinking about getting a Contour, but have sorta' decided I like the Practical better.

Cheaper, better looking (to me), and has fiber optic front sight.

Any advantages to the Contour, other than already having the rail?

it is removable - IMHO you would be better off getting the standard Buckmark & if you want to put some sort of optics on in you can install the Tactical Solutions rail.
