20,000 is small time if you compete. I put in orders with the CMP 10K rounds at a time a couple of times a year. They're really backordered right now but they are taking orders again if anybody wants to get in the queue. Apparently they're getting in 1,000 cases every other month of Aguilla plus whatever surplus they can scrape up plus they have in orders with other makers. I just got a couple of cases from them the other day and I have backorders for four more.

Anyway, the ammo reference page listed above is very helpful or there's a more "chatty" type thread in off topic. But right now the best deals are at Gander and basically if you're around in the evenings (somewhere around 8-10pm) set an auto checker running and keep an eye on it. Last time I did that and there was a big drop I picked up a case of the federal bulk packs (5250 rounds) for $250 delivered. Might take a couple of weeks but you only have to be lucky once.

If you don't need quantity I gather Cabelas has had Blazers almost daily lately and it's good ammo. The only issue is you can only get it a brick at a time.

Thanks for the heads up, I was just in there a couple of days ago and there were no .22s.
Gonna get in line again for some more.
I just received today my over a year old backorder of 5k or .22s.

It seems like Aguilla is the bulk ammo most available right now (and for the last few months). I wonder why that is considering its a Mexican import round...??? Are they punching out that much more than CCI, Rem or Win?

I've been seeing all of those plus federal more than Aguilla lately. Maybe the Aguilla lasts longer because people don't know it but it's better than rem or win.

I have stopped looking online and at gun shows completely, and made friends at my local gun shops. Given I dont pick up thousands of rounds at a time, but they always seem to save me a few hundred a week. I started stopping by a few times here and there a bought the calibers they had and always asked about .22 they never had on the shelf, I was polite and didnt whine about it. Before you know it some started to land in my hand every trip, and at few different stores even when it not on the shelf. Note: Be polite, spend some money, make some friends, it goes a long way.

So you have 2500 plus rounds because it was a good deal and there are people like me and my girlfriend that end up buying from flippers because we can't find ammo with a full time job. :-/

The thread was for people to post deals, not keep them secret. I never said anything about anyone being a "greedy hoarder"(most of the people on this forum would lose their **** if they knew how much I had stashed still).

I got out a long time ago, but when I took a peek the other day I could see it had gotten pretty weird in there. Kess locked it down with good reason.

The plan is still to plan ahead. Personally if I am looking for something, I just go to slickguns. It is linked into WIKI AMMO, etc... and you get the benefit of that community as well. I usually find what I am looking for, but I am usually looking for other calibers these days and I don't really NEED any. I would have a real tough time justifying any .22 ammo purchases at least for a few years.

Just yesterday afternoon we went out as a Family and shot over two Bulk Packs.

5 people shooting adds up to alot of consumption..10,000 rounds gives us 10 Family outings this Summer. Yes I will buy more or the shooting season will end quickly.

I've said it before... there's always going to be some new guy that is pissed at you for having any number of rounds more than him. I can be 1000 or 50,000.

Even 50k will only last you ONE HUNDRED outings shooting a measly brick at each. I'd say that's a two year supply for someone who shoots often, but like you said multiply that by the number of shooters and it isn't much.

I would not deter anyone from keeping 50,000 in reserve. That's a good number IMHO.

Plenty of 22lr here in the market place between 35-75 cents per round. I. A serious note UNammo in Phoenix AZ has lots of 22 a lil pricey but they have plenty and if not they get regular shipments.
