    RUGER SR-22 RIFLE QUESTION

A big question for Ruger afficionados: the Ruger SR-22 Rifle.

I think this is a very, very handsome rimfire based on the 10/22 action. On the left side of the receiver there is a slot where the serial number should reside. I just saw an example of this rifle with absolutely no serial number in that window at all! Are there any receivers of this type being sold without a serial number? Are there Ruger 10/22 receivers being sold as 80% builds????

I got a SR22 rifle, I am happy with it but in hindsight I may as well have got one of the aftermarket kits for an existing 10/22. Archangel makes one http://www.archangelmanufacturing.co.../09/17/aa556r/
And I believe another company makes one that is very much the same, I seem to remember that the factory Ruger SR22 case they use is either based on one of the aftermarket ones or even produced by another company for Ruger but I may be wrong.
Also, yes, ther are a few 80% 10/22 style receivers. The one you saw may have been something like this inside an Archangel kit. Note that this 80% reciver probably won't work with the Archangel stock but there are some out there that are more like a basic 10/22 reciver.

Ruger has stamped the serial number in two places over the years.
Older ones are stamped in the middle top area of the left side, newer ones at the left upper corner of the left side.
So, it could be an older 10/22 receiver or an 80%.
