Quietest Round for 10/22??

I have a lever action 22lr and can shoot it all. The CB's are very quiet. Used to shoot that in the backyard, sounded like a cap gun.

My dad just picked up a 10/22 and wants to shoot in the backyard.

What is the quietest that WILL cycle the 10/22?

From what I've read anything will work if he wants to manually cycle it.

I've tried sub sonic and cci quiets. Neither will cycle. I have bolt action Marlin XT22, bought some 10 round mags. Of course it shoots them fine.
I myself will not shoot anywhere it is against the law, even my back yard.

I have read somewhere before that Remington Subsonic will cycle the action? Might be worth trying a 50 round box.

Remington sub sonics cycle all of my 10-22's and my sr22

Maybe look into getting a lighter bolt spring ?

You'll have to try your own 10/22 & see how it goes. Some cycle a bit smoother than others, some charging handles bind a bit, some actions even clean, may not be as smooth as another. Complete reliability is another story altogether, you taking about 10 rounds or 150? Big difference. My main build will cycle 1020 FPS solids for hundreds of rounds. It's tricked out though, semi polished receiver, radiused bolt, smooth cycling handle etc. Quietest ammo will likely have no powder, primer only & it wont cycle the action. My favorite for years & quiet, has been the Win. super X subs! Accurate too!

Anything that will cycle wont be that quiet. I like CCI Quiets but of course they dont cycle.

Any videos on polishing the bolt and internals? I've got a Takedown for the range but wouldn't mind tinkering to get to be smoother. I've read about the radiusing of the bolt, I'll look into that.

Try the Kidd bolt handle. The assembly comes with three different springs, a light, a medium and a heavy. The light one may cycle with some of the subsonic rounds but I have not tried that yet.

Or you can always just cycle it manually. probably nothing out there that is quiet that will cycle it fully.
