    first 10/22, need trigger upgrade...

So i finally picked up my first 10/22. I havent taken it to range yet but dry fired it twice and the trigger is real bad. Will this loosen up with use. I have the 20" with the hi viz sights.

Or what parts can I get to switch out to make it smoother and lighter?

    Thanks in advance.

I will smoother out a little over time. If your on a budget I recommend the VQ target hammer kit or send the trigger group to Brimstone Gunsmith.

I'd say shoot it as is first.

Mine's had over 5,000 rounds thru it and I've still kept the trigger stock.

The older (factory) trigger/housings tend to get better results with trigger work. Best bet is a Volquartsen hammer/sear combo. about 70$ Unlikely the stock trigger will get much better, they are pretty raunchy. I used the VQ hammer/sear & liked it, opted to have my factory trigger cleaned up & made adjustable. I used "CPC" Some VQ trigger installs will give you "take-up" & possibly overtravel, mine had a lot of take-up. Still, the Hammer/Sear combo made for a light, crisp trigger.

          in a word ...KIDD
or get a Timney drop in
or $.25 trigger job on originals
          you can try Clark custom

ive felt a $.25 job that was better than VQ

Dry fired twice? WTF, hope you don't rate your girlfriend the same way you rate your guns.

Fire a few thousand times before you decide it sucks. At the very least you will have something to compare the new trigger to.

Thanks or the help. Ill take it to the range as is and see how it feels. But i have dry fired it a lil more and still feels to heavy.

Thanks for the links though. I have a feeling I will need them after the range trip...
