Marlin XT22VR Jail?? Pros & Cons

    Hey guys,
I have a little crush on a Marlin XT-22 VR I found. It looks like a very accurate little rifle. It is the model with the 1:16 micro grooved 22 inch bull barrel. My old Marlin 81 DL has a critical and un repairable problem so I am gonna part it and get a new bolt action. Does anyone have this rifle? What do you think?

    Thanks in advance.

Mine is not the VR (VR is heavy barrel?) but these are great rifles, and it's highly unlikely you'd be disappointed.

Which scope rings did you use? I already bought it, now I just need to order the rings so I can mount my Nikon 3-9x40 BDC to it.

I've still never found a VR in-stock anywhere nearby. If I did, I'd already own it I have three XT-22s and love them all! Great rifles!
Oh, with a 40mm scope, you'll want high rings. Mediums will fit up to a 32mm scope.

I have one, for me it is ok. I'm also comparing to a kimber 82g so kinda apples to oranges. For a 220 dollar gun it's amazing though. I was averaging 3/8 inch groups at 50 yards with federal bulk(I got lucky mine is cheap to feed). The trigger is very easy to adjust and just as easy to take apart and stone. My action wasn't the smoothest so I tried to polish some contact points DONT do this it makes the metal turn to butter. The places I polished are wearing out very fast. Learn from my mistake stupid dremel. For me the gun wasn't balanced very front heavy. My solution was to take a pack of bb's poor them I. The back of the butt stock (it's hollow) and fill the voids with expanding spray foam. After you put the foam in Shake the stock until you stop hearing the bbs rattle. That was probably the best upgrade I have done. I want to pillar bed and stiffen the stock, there is a lot of flex. All and all it's a fun gun great for plinking and shooting shotgun shells at 50-100 yards depending on scope. Enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine. I know what I'm taking to the range this weekend.

I happened to stumble upon an XT-22VR today (the first and only one I've ever seen in person since they came out). I bought it!
