22LR CCI Sub Sonics... What would you use them for?

So the CCI Sub Sonics are a 40 grain lead HP that are obviously sub sonic. The description says they are used for small game. So my question is why would you need a sub sonic hunting round? For noise control? Why not use high velocity for added energy impact (HP mini mag), or a hyper velocity (Stinger, Velocitor)? What other reasons would you have to use this round besides lower noise? Do they offer higher accuracy or something?

Sub Sonic rounds , I have seen , are more accurate at distances over 75 yards. If your hunting bushytails or rabbits at a farther distance than just 50 yds they work great once you zero them to your firearm.

Shooting a pest where you don't want noise to bother people.

Target shooting under 100 yards where noise may be an issue.

Those rounds are very accurate out to 100 yards out of my cz 452. I use them for cottontails if I get the opportunity.

Supersonic bullets can stay on a very consistent path until they break the sound beerier. So, at further distances, they get all wacky. But, subsonic ammo doesn't experience that so, it's more consistent at longer distances.

                      This.

Your average bulk ammo, 1250 FPS, will go sonic at about 50 meters, open up a bit at 75, and may or may not be usable at 100 meters. Heavier subsonic bullets will retain their accuracy as far as you can dial in a come-up.

I'm confused. Your post sounds like you're implying bullets speed up after the muzzle.

Your max velocity is at the muzzle. Supersonic rounds exit the barrel supersonic. They get disturbed going from super to subsonic... Not the other way around.

Yes, that's exactly what he said. Starts out at 1250 fps, breaks the sound barrier down into subsonic speed and goes all catty wompus.

Yup. Its the trans sonic region where the accuracy drops dramatically. In my experience subs are great depending on your rifle, to out to and past 100 yards. My favorite part is when you hit your marks (in my case a ground squirrel) the sound of the lead hitting home is louder than the actual shot and the other ones stand there looking confused why their buddy is dead and i have an easier time with a follow up shot or two.

Or you have a Phoenix arms hp22 which needs a diet of regular velocity food, not HV.
