    Remington 514 barrel code

    Greetings shooters!
This is my first post on Calguns. I registered so I could ask two questions.
I have a Remington 514 that my dad gave me when I was a kid, and I just gave to my 12 year old daughter after taking her out shooting for the first time yesterday.

Anyway, this rifle has a barrel code of WB5. There are no repair stamps or an infinity symbol or an anchor symbol, just WB5.
According to the location diagram on this site: http://www.remingtonsociety.com/rsa/...ns/barrelcodes
the W indicates August, and the B designates 1933 or 1955, and 5 is the Assembly
My questions are: 1) How can I tell whether it was made in 1933 or 1955, and 2) What does the 5 for Assembly mean?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't believe the 500 series was made in 1933. I have a 341 which was the 300 series and that stopped in the 40s. I believe they made 500 series from the late 40s to 70s. you can google the years produced for better dates.

      Thanks for your reply, Justin4fun,

From what I was able to find online, the 514 was in production from 1948 to 1970, so it looks like mine was made in 1955.
Does this make it a Curio/Relic?

So, can anyone tell me what the 5 for Assembly means?

I might just end up calling Remington's Customer Service number and see if anyone there might be able to shed some light on this for me.
      Thanks again.
