Ruger MKIII target blued or SS?

please advice.

I like stainless. It's an opinion thing, it's not going to show prints and is a bit tougher,and I like the look.

That said, if you asked me to show you my 22/45, it's blued.

blued looks more like luger and wooden grips look good on them.

The stainless is my Dad's. Both Great pistols. I do think the stainless looks better.

During the past three months I've bought (and own) a Mark III Target SS and blue. Both shoot the same and tolerances are identical.

Aesthetically is for you to decide. I like both. The blue looks a bit more aggressive while the SS says 'hey, look at me'.

With that said, I bought the SS for two reasons: The opportunity presented itself to buy one at a great price and I like how it looks, especially the contrast between SS, black grips & trigger along with a red dot. The added benefit I find with SS is it's easier to clean. The effort is the same with both pistols but you can see better with SS what is dirty and how good a job you did cleaning.

Additional benefits of SS is less smudges/fingerprints can be seen and if you have a light scratch, you may be able to sand it out.

The 'bad' I found with SS (and its purely cosmetic) is with the slide removed, you see a couple solder points in the frame. These same solder points (not sure I'm using the correct terminology) are in a blued pistol. They are just more noticeable in SS when the slide is removed.

I like stainless steel for the sole fact that its way easier to clean because you can see everything plus it just looks plain cool

Maroon Scotchbrite pads will restore scratches on stainless to like-new again.

Buy both and switch the uppers, that way you have a two tone RUGER markIII

I like the stainless Hunter because its all stainless...not a fan of half and half.

Right now only blued is available at Turners. I will wait and see if they get any SS before they fall off the roster in Aug.

I heard that Mark 3's are already off the list because Rugar changed one piece and were required to resubmit as a new gun and Ruger said no.
Might want to pick the blued one up if that's the case.

MarkIII falls off the roster in aug, both blued and SS.

I love my MKII target stainless. I'm very happy to have the stainless vs blued but there is nothing wrong with the blued. I'm not sure there is a functional advantage to one over the other.

I like the SS - a bit easier to care for and it looks sharp to my eye. A hunter will be my next .22.
