    That was funny!

    Not my bolt actions.

FBX: Do you like cleaning your rifles/pistols? If you do, you have to buy some Thunderbolts. They shoot fairly well, but one of the components of the round is soot.

I like everything CCI and Federal. Used to have good luck with Winchester but they seem to have fallen off in Quality the last few years..
^^^^ This x2. I would add Blazers (by cci) for good bulk pk, when you can get them.

My 10/22 is used for simple plinking at the range. I could not tell you how many rounds down the pipe - tens of thousands? I have run literally about every brand of .22LR through it. While in my case it has been true that the higher priced ammo worked without a FTF or FTE, most of the cheaper stuff has been fine. The one exception for me is the Remington Golden Bullett. Too high a FTF on those, perhaps in the range of 3%.

        Whatever you do, enjoy it!

My Bro-in-law has a 10/22. My 20" AR outshoots it with a Ciener .22LR bolt. The ammo is all over in accuracy. Lapula match is excellent, but rare and costs as much as cheaper .223.

I have a couple bricks of Aguila 1750 fps super maximum my wife's AR likes, it's rather sloppy. I used some Federal Champion hollow points yesterday with my 20" AR and found those are very tight groupings, about a dime sized at 25 yards. The 20" 1/9 non-chomed really likes those better than my 16" chrome lined.

Just have patience and wait for some CCI to come up, as far as .22 lr you can't beat it.

When it comes to reliability with various ammo, it depends on the firearm. My Ruger SR22 and MKIII have been reliable with everything I have tried even cheap Thunderbolts, and Golden Bullets.

CCI anything is about as good as it gets for reliability.

That said, I have shot 10' of thousands of rounds using Federal 36gr and Winchester 36gr HP copper wash through .22 AR15's and 10/22's.

It's not what it once was but it's not junk, especially compared to anything Remington puts out.

                Ammo brand advice

I have a pretty good selection of guns to evaluate ammo.

Remmy: GB's work great in all my autos. 10/22, mp15-22, Mk I. Works great in my pump and bolts. But that's not a great test. As far as autos, always reliable and plenty accurate. In fact best accuracy comes from yellowjackets. Also I like vipers. Thunderbolts suck for the most part, but no surprise there.

However, rem 22's suck in revolvers. That applies to both my ruger bearcat and my mom's LCR 22. They don't chamber well and extract for crap.

GB's get a lot of hate but not from me.

Federal: bulk stuff is great in autos and revolvers. Super reliable and accurate. Auto match is great too. I'd rank fed above remmy but it's marginal at best.

CCI: blazer is not bad for lead but I've bad issues at times with feeding as bullets sometimes get caught. Maybe it's a cleaning issue, blazer isn't the cleanest. Stinger is top notch ammo. But pricey. Other CCI is great too.

CCI is probably the best overall bulk type 22 by again by how much?? Not enough to really matter.

Winchester: pretty much equal with remmy. Works great in autos. Haven't tried in revolvers. That includes super x as well as te 555, 333, etc. I like winny 22's.

I'd try to shoot copper if possible. Lead I'm not as big a fan of.

Here's the thing. One, availability is tough so beggars can't be choosers. And two, there's not really a whole lot of diff in ammo. The guns most of us shoot, 10/22's, marlin 60's, tacticool 22's like mp15-22's and mp5 styles, are all designed to work with a wide variety of ammo. Modern manufacturing technology is such that quality is quite good and consistent across brands. And the rifles are made with tolerances such that they will work pretty much with every brand.

No, you won't necessarily get the best accuracy but then again accuracy is relative. My 10/22 with stock barrel and tech sights can shoot sub minute of golf ball at 25 yds. It'll ring steel at 100 all day long. My son's savage fv-sr will kill baseballs at 100 without worry. All with both fed and rem bulk. Kinda hard to complain.

                I wouldn't stress over ammo.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.
