School me on the Walther P22!!

I was lucky enough to find the last Walther P22 at Turners today (Stainless Slide), apparently someone had put it on hold a year ago and never picked it up. When I asked if there was one in the system they realized it was buried in a box somewhere in the back and was the only one in the system.

The salesman said I was extremely lucky to find it, it was also on sale. What do you guys think? How are the P22's and did I luck out?
Will be my first .22 LR pistol.

I have a long barreled stainless one. Really like it as the hand grip is tiny, which is great for my son when he was 4. He could easily grip it. Firing was more of a challenge, but now that he's 8, it's pretty easy for him.

Unlike some of the internet complaints, I had only a few issues with jamming, feeding, etc. One thing I did do was to use Mini Mag's for the first couple hundred rounds as I heard that this makes for a less troublesome break in period. Now, it pretty much shoots everything.

Only complaint I have is that the clamp on slide extension loosens up every range trip and slides forward. Minor annoyance that locktite will fix.

Having said that, I recently bought an SR-22 from a friend. He'd had it a few years and never fired it. Personally, I find it a lot more accurate (for me) and utterly reliable with whatever ammo I feed it even brand new out of the box.

I think you'll be very happy with it as it is a fun little gun.

Now that the SR22 is off roster and people are gonna want an arm and leg for theirs, I'm gonna take a second look at the Walther. I mainly want something my wife and kids can have fun with.

A LOT of internet trash talking on the Walther.
I've had mine for 5 years now. It has always been great fun, doesn't like federal ammo but that's it. I use mini mags & it seldom if ever hiccups.

It's great for introducing new shooters and seems like a much larger caliber (loud & snappy for a .22, with its short barrel)

It's the one gun that comes along EVERY time I go to the range. I LOVE mine.
