JC higgins 22. ranger ?

I have a old JC higgins ranger I think it's a high standard 're label I would like to take it apart but I can't figure out how to get the handle and action out of the frame.

I took the pin in the front of the frame out and the screw going through the frame and grip/action out.

It feels like it wants to slip back and let the hammer slide out of the frame but it won't. And I don't want to force it

Any help would be great this thing is filthy

Numrich arms has schematics for some models of JC Higgins.They can usually cross over to the original maker.
