Well they retail for $529-569, so you might find it cheaper.

Looks like Bass Pro sells them for $319 with camo stock and SS barrel. If they don't have it in store you can always order one from them.

Not the same thing...I think the OP is referring to the .920 bull barrel model. I know what Bass Pro sells as a "target" model and it has the regular, tapered barrel profile.

To the OP: If you found one in stock somewhere, just buy it. $520 is a decent price. Or, you could just buy a carbine model and mod it yourself with .920 barrel & stock...super easy.

It sounds like the OP is referring to the 'target tactical' model that comes with the hogue and bipod with .920 bull barrel direct from ruger.

not a bad price, but i agree with others that it can be had for a bit less, and a lot more fun to build your own.

I was pretty much in the same boat as you. But then the light bulb went off.

So at a price of $520, after tax & DROS you can probably expect to pay around $595 OTD, maybe a bit cheaper if you can find it for a few bucks less but that's about what you can expect to pay. Instead, I decided to do the following....

I bought a regular 10/22 carbine with wood stock and blue receiver/barrel from Turners for $199 last week when it was on sale (came out to $242 OTD). I bought an 18" ER Shaw .920" bull barrel and Hogue overmolded .920" stock from Midway... after a $20 discount code that was posted on Calguns, it came out to $172 shipped. I haven't purchased a bi-pod yet, but you can get those fairly cheap. I also picked up a low-profile picatinny rail to mount onto the receiver for $9 shipped. Swapping out the parts yourself takes minutes and is very easy. No need to pay anyone to do it for you.

Before the bi-pod, I spent $423 to have pretty much the same thing as the Target Tactical model, but at close to $200 less. That's also before any extra cash that I can make back from selling the unused & brand new wood stock and unfired barrel. From the research I've done on RFC, that's pretty much all that's different on the Target Tactical model.

Sure I'm using an 18" barrel instead of the 16" barrel, but I actually like the look of the 18" barrel better on the Hogue stock.

Get the cheapest 10/22 you can find and put a Kidd barrel on it and you'll be ahead in terms of accuracy over the Ruger Target model.
