I had to take mine apart after the first range visit and lubricate it thoroughly, very dry and stiff right out of the box

After an initial hiccup in the form of a jam - I was able to run 5 magazines of standard velocity Eley Target 1085 fps LRN through it with just a couple failures to feed.

One of my two magazines requires a rough tap on the table to juggle the top round into sitting at the right angle in the magazine. Otherwise the bolt just skips right over it scraping the top edge of the lead bullet itself.

Savage 64 is a rifle that you normally run high velocity through.

Copper plating is definitely better with this rifle simply because the Savage 64 is not allow a straight forward or simple take down for cleaning. Copper plating keeps the rifle clean longer thereby reducing the frequency of having to do the annoying take down required for cleaning.

I was recommending jam free ammo. You offered him stuff that still jams about 5% of the time according to you.
I wasn't speaking in absolutes when I said he needs that ammo. He doesn't need it. He can use any ammo he wants.

And copper plating is not just for cleaning. LRN has a higher coefficient of friction than CPLRN. So it sticks, skips, and jumps rather than copper plated lead round nose just sliding up into the chamber.

Including the HP? If my understanding is correct, I would be better running round-nose, but HP should still cycle through if it's high enough velocity? Or is the shape of the bullet itself going to cause cycling issues?
