22LR snap caps

I thought the one made by A-Zoom is a snap cap. But it turns out it's a dummy round, not dry fire safe.

What do you guys recommend for 22LR dry fire?

Yup!

Most .22 Cal Dummy Rounds you will find are not intended to actually be dry fired.
A cheap readily available solution is "Ribbed Plastic Anchors" Drywall Anchors found at the hardware store.
Yellow #4-6 x 7/8" or White #8-10 x 1" work well for different 22LR firearms.
Make sure to rotate them so the same spot doesn't get hit over and over.
Sometimes you can even get them to feed in a magazine.

+1 for the drywall anchors. I tried them out in my RAR yesterday and they worked great. They would even feed from the magazine.

I agree with "ol shooter", Tipton has been very good to me! Of course after dryfiring, you'll need to move the snap cap around, but other than that it works great!

Next time you go to the range, before you begin to shoot, sweep your shoot area clean.
Shoot your rimfire rifle and/or pistol, and recover your spent cases.
Use your spent cases as "snap caps."

Cost = $0.00 and each case, when rotated will last for 6-7 dry fires.

Those are a better price than the ones I got, and same deal, about 4-5 stikes each in terms of longevity.

I picked up a pack or two before an Appleseed. They really wanted you to dry fire practice a portion of the course, and they told everyone its really not a problem to dry fire a rimfire, but use a snap cap if you feel better about it. I had a MLR22AT from Magnum Research, which has a huge red sticker 'do not dry fire' on empty chamber or such, so I got the A-zoom above, just figured cheap insurance. I bought some of the home depot wall anchors to try, while they would be OK in the gun, I don't remember them working well in the 10/22 magazine.

Carlson's Snap Caps allow for safe release of firing pin springs. A spring loaded striking area cushions and protects firing pins (centerfire calibers only).

Yep, Another +1 on the anchors.

The S&W 422 series tend to break firing pins if dry fired. Plus the hammer is not exposed.
I keep a couple anchors in the gun rugs with them.

I use tool steel firing pins, not stamped, mild steel factory ones. Dryfiring is bad, I use empty cases for testing & storing. I just save a bunch.
