    SOLVED/FIXED-------CMMG AR-22 bolt kit= JAM-O-Matic

Black dog mags fixed the issue!

So frustrated! Everything I buy fails to work as its supposed to out of the box. Do manufacturers ever test anything before shipping? Its impossible to have these kind of odds with failures, just impossible. My CZ is back at the factory for the 3rd time and the BRAND NEW CMMG AR-22 bolt wont cycle more than 3 rounds without jamming. I'm not interested in hearing from the "Mine works" crowd. Your post does not help my jamming gun! Can you tell I am frustrated?????????? I bought a brand new stainless CMMG kit Friday. Sunday I take it to the range. Tried 8 kinds of ammo including CCI 40gr mini-mag and all fail to feed. The gun is stove piping live rounds up into the cmmg bolt and jamming. After carefully removing the live round without fragging my face and hands I notice a slot in the nose of the round. What I think is happening is the CMMG 10rd magazine is not keeping the nose of the round up and its going level with mag. The bolt comes forward to pick up a round and it jams into the base of the cmmg feed ramp. After hitting the base it pops straight up and jams between the 22 bolt face and chamber making an impossible to clear jam without needle nose pliers and safety goggles. I have to confess I refused to buy one of these "kits" for years KNOWING I would get a jam-o-matic parts set and it would be worthless and I was right. The LAST thing i want to do right now is return yet another gun/parts to the factory that failed to test it before shipping. I should have listened to my gut and stayed far away from this kit. Should I ask CMMG to send me a blackdog mag? I do not want another cmmg mag. Does this issue even sound like a mag issue? Sorry for the frustrated rant!

I have one and it worked no problem did over 300 rds combined of winchester white box (HP) and federal american eagle (round nose) on a franken build AR (carbine length gas) that was using a tubb carbine/rifle spring and a spikes tactical T2 heavy buffer. Was using black dog machine mags also. I then let a friend use it in his franken AR which was a similar build but using generic no name carbine spring and buffer but using my black dog mags and he never ran into a issue putting maybe 100 rds through it.

I have the regular one not the stainless steel version. Since you also seem to be having bad luck with a CZ maybe you just have bad luck. I know it kinda sucks but it happens sometimes.

I think I remember rimfirecentral.com having a ton of information on these, all the nuances on getting them to run if yours doesn't.

My problem was the CMMG kit didn't seem to like my lightened AR trigger (spring), but on a different lower with a stock AR trigger it ran better. I think mine would run with Mini-Mag, but not standard velocity.

I have my old blackdog mags if you need any for a good price, PM me (some used SIG brand, other new from blackdog). I only sold my CMMG upper because I had too many different 22LR types of rifle - 10/22 and 15-22 are the ones I kept, as for other people they are fun and light vs the AR.

No they are closed on sunday. If CCI mini-mags dont work nothing will. I tried 8 kinds of ammo. The magazine is BROKEN. Next time take the time to read what I posted .

Sorry you're having problems. I don't have experience with your upper or bolt, but my Taccom upper and bolt was about the same, not as bad though, when I first got it. I took it to Randle @ AR15 barrels (who is great guy btw)who polished the entry into the barrel and that helped. I also found the magazine catch/ bullet button (yes; I have the bullet button on my 22 rifle; so I can interchange it if I want) wasn't really tight and wasn't holding the (black dog) mags securely, once that was tightened up that helped too.

There's also an article here, about some more polishing which I also did and I think that helped too:

If you are like me, you want your firearm to be 100%. Sure, we can get a dud round with .22, but I want the gun to feed and eject like it should. My rifle seemed to be running pretty good but then eve

Since then I added the Taccom/ Mag adapter to use the S&W 15-22 mags, and the mag adapter seems to hold the S&W mags more securely than the black dog mags fit into the standard AR lower; that seems to work better too.

I'm still trying to get it to 100%.

I also found I didn't have enough oil on the bolt and the bolt catch. So now I clean everything pretty thoroughly after every range session, and then make sure everything is very oiled up.

I'll be trying mine again in a week or so, I don't know if any of that will help but good luck and let us know how it's going.

Sorry for the issues you ran into I'd be upset too. I don't have a drop in kit. I have a dedicated cmmg .22 upper with the stainless bolt, I added a taccom reliability kit before I ever shot it. So.... I've was having a few FTF, FTE, maybe once per mag. As I have run it, it seems to be getting better maybe once every two or three mags now. But I only have about 350 rds through it so far, so it may end up curing itself after breaking in.

Regardless, Maybe your kit needs some breaking in also?

Also, if your local to me send me a pm. I have several black dog mags. Il let you borrow one see if it fixes your issue.

I have one of the drop ins ( non stainless)and use the black dog mags and lube the heck out of the rails no issues other than a few duds. What ammo have used also is your Ar all stock.

Steps to help fix the issue...

                        - Check to make sure you are loading the mag properly. A lot of the symptoms you are describing sound like issues my wife has when she improperly loads the mag on my CMMG conversion.
                        - Clean/lube the crap out of the bolt, etc...I use Mobile 1 Syn grease and it fixed a lot of problems.
                        - Buy this, it will help: http://www.midwayusa.com/product/963...ty-enhancement
                        - Keep shooting...many threads on these conversions...they need to be broken in.
                        - Get Blackdog mags, they work better than the one I got with the CMMG kit...I got the ones with the plastic feed lips...work great.

I had similar problems and bought the pressure plus and continued to shoot it. After a few hundred rounds, I can put this in either my AR or AR Pistol and run with no issues. I even run it with standard velocity ammo.

I am up at Burro weekly and I have both the CMMG mags and black dog, if you want to test your mag theory I plan on being up there Feb 1.

Sorry to hear about your frustration. Here are two possible fixes that may help increase reliability.

                              1. Taccom Pressure Plug: LINK
This will add pressure from the buffer tube to apply constant pressure on your bolt.

                              2. New XForm anti-tilt followers from Black Dog. If you are having problems feeding from the newest BDM X-form mags: LINK. They are FREE with FREE shipping.
EDIT: Re-read, you are using CMMG mags... sorry, ignore #2. But do try BDM mags as they are the industry standard.

                              Best of luck.
