I got these online---They are made of very light gauge copper wire with nylon coating---Doesn't seem like they could scratch the barrel at all---I have the Marlin 795 which doesn't break down, so have to feed through the chamber---It seems the same as any bore snake???

Another option is to use heavy (.090") weed trimmer string. Heat up one end and flatten. Then put in a slit for holding patches. It is stiff enought to feed down the barrel and since it is nylon, no chance of scratching.
I use it both on .22LR and .17HMR. Very easy to carry the field.

All I use on all my rimfires is this chamber tool, along with a brush to clean the breech face and loading ramps. I use Hornady One Shot, so I never have to break them down, no oil means no "mud". The only time I clean the barrel is when accuracy suffers. I have thousands of rounds down the barrels without any more than chamber cleaning.

For field quick clean they are fine. A variation on the Patchworm
This works fine as well and homemade.
