    Oops ruger MkIII reassembely help

So a coworker dissasembled his MKIII about a year ago and does not know how to put it back together. He did a complete gunsmith dissasembly and wants me to reasemble it for him. I am intrested in doind this project as it will give me hands on experience in the MKIII chassis before i pirchase it.

Is there any videos, guides, how to pages for this? He does not have the owners manual anymore.

    Thanks guys

You can take a look at the reassembly video on the Ruger website (click on "Videos" and then "Tech Tips," then choose "Mark III Reassembly" from the menu). But these videos are generally for basic field strips.

If you need more detailed information, you can try this DVD: http://www.ontargetvideos.com/Ruger-...stol_p_22.html
Top Gun Supply (topgunsupply.com) sells them for $9.95.

YouTube always has some pretty good "how to" videos. But sometimes it takes awhile to find the good ones.

This is a good, close-up tutorial for a Mark III. I have little mechanical/engineering aptitude yet still refer back to this video for assembly/disassembly of my Mark III.

Hopefully all the parts are there.

Goodluck, you are at a big disadvantage not being the one that took it apart to begin with and knowing how the parts function and interact.

Post up any questions you may have with photos if possible and I am sure we can talk you thru it.

One of the first things you are going to have to do is get the sear spring and sear positioned correctly so you can put the sear pin thru them.. be ready to be frustrated.. have various punches and dental picks on hand to try to finagle those parts to all sit correctly and align. It's like building a ship in a bottle.

I was looking at one of these today at my lgs, and the salesman was telling me what a pita it is to put one back together. Another customer was there who owned one and said there are some good videos on youtube to help you out.

Yea I needed to search you tube to get the first mkII I took apart back together. I was fine until trying to line up the pin in back of the action that folds into the handle.

I think Moe is the dingleberry! His video ASSumes you are familiar with the pistol.

Just follow a video (look the one I posted yesterday) from start to finish and you'll be fine. Other then the video I posted, I don't recall another video mentioning the tension required on the mainspring. Many will think since the mainspring housing goes into place upon re-assembly, they're good to go.

My advice is view a well made video on the Mark that is directed for a newbie. After 3 or 4 strip downs, it becomes as easy as lacing up your shoes.

You have a long road ahead of you since you don't have one yourself. Complete reassemble, not field strip reassemble, will be hard for anybody.
Too bad you are so far from long beach, or I can show you how. I have done it a few time.
If youtube is not enough, let me know, I will try to help.

                            So far so good.

I feel like making an offer. What would be a good price for this handgun? I really like it.
