    Marlin 995

How uncommon are parts for this rifle? Are there any differences between the pre 1996 magazines and the post? Sorry if dupe.....

The 995 was (as far as I know) just a variation of the Marlin 795. It came with a wood stock and blued metal.

So pretty much everything related to the 795 should apply:

    The magazines:
I am not sure if its magazine well is a pre or post (what I call) "nub".
At a point with the federal AWB they decided to make their older 15 and 25 round magazines for the M70 not work in newer firearms.
To do this they added a "nub" in the magazine well that would cause older magazines to not be insertable. New "Post" magazines have a cut in their side that allow them to enter the magazine well and not be bothered by the nub.

Look into your magazine well, do you see the nub?

Here are an assortment of magazines showing the cut in the side that corresponds to the nub and ones that do not have the cut:

If you have the nub then you need "Post" magazines.
New magazines are backwards compatible with rifles that do not have the nub
But older magazines will not work in new rifles without modification.
You are looking for "POST-88" Bolt and Auto-Loader Magazines Mgf ID: 71902

Thank you that answered my question. And relieved some of my worries.
