Why do you want a threaded barrel, not arguing just asking?

I recommend that, you just save a few dollars more & go with the Kidd barrel like many others have suggested.... you will not be disappointed, I sold a ER Shaw barrel & have shot other GM barrels and though nice hardly compare the the Kidd barrel that I have now

as for the threaded barrel, since you can not suppress here in CA the only advantage would be for a comp which IMHO is a waste of money on a 22

Voltsquarten barrels are nice too but way over your budget.

I have a 20 inch bull barrel. Imo, it's too heavy. I'm looking to replace it with a 16" barrel soon.

$150 is slightly out of range of a Feddersen bull barrel... but that's what I went with.

P.S., why 18-20" barrels for a .22lr? I'm fairly certain (please let me know if wrong) that most .22lr top out at around a 16" barrel in effectiveness.

I just purchased a Kidd 16.5 SS for my 10/22. they are highly recommended and from what I have heard customer support it is outstanding. I have yet to complete my rifle so I cant say how well it shoots yet. I just hate buying something and then replacing it fairly quickly so an extra 30.00 was worth it to me.

I have an E.R. Shaw barrel that I tried. It is accurate as anyone can expect. I also tested the stock barrel the same day at the same distance. No less accurate. This is not to say the aftermarket barrel was no good, but the stock pencil thin barrel was supremely accurate. Both were well under an inch @ 50 yards off sandbags. There was no wind, and a standard California day weather wise.

I changed it back to the skinny barrel, I like the look better with the Tapco stock and for what I use the gun for (rimfire matches, standing and moving, short distances) lighter is better. Being just as accurate is gravy.

I also have a 10/22 Light Varmint model, with the tapered bull barrel. That gun put five shots into about 1/2 inch @ 50 yards. First two shots were almost touching, last three went into the same hole. Through the scope I thought I missed (though couldn't believe it since I hadn't flinched and the shot felt good). Another guy at the range watching thought the same. Looking at the target, it's obvious that the third hole has more than one round through it.

My point; It appears Ruger barrels are not slouches in the accuracy department. I put the E.R. Shaw barrel up for trade, I'm looking for a threaded skinny barrel with no sight cut or front sight band.

I suggest that you shoot the OEM barrel for a while, but try several types of ammo. The factory barrel with the right ammo may be sufficient for what you want to do.

Most OEM barrels, with the right ammo will challenge the skill of most shooters.

I've had real good luck with Clerke Barrels myself, all three of them.

+1 on the GM barrels. Good barrel for the price. No doubt a Kidd or Volquartsen would be great but it's way more then $150.
