    need help on 10/22 barrel

I am trying to debate what bull barrel I want to buy for my 10/22 rifle. I have been looking at er shaw and green mountain but don't know how good they are and I want a 20 inch preferred but noticed a lot of target barrels are 18 inches. and my budget is 150 for it. any suggestions?

Green Mountain is usually better than ER Shaw, albeit not by much. I suggest a heavy taper GM barrel in your choice of length. They balance really well and still give the benefits of a bull barrel.

Green mtn barrels are good. Stainless will be as little heavier, even a 16" fluted. Weight will help you if it's a bench gun, or rested bipod etc. 22 will reach peak velocity at about 16 inches, any barrel length after that isn't necessary. Length & weight can help stabilize the gun, but it's up to you. The next barrel I'll buy will be a heavy tapered model & 16 inches. I have a GM 16" fluted & its nice!
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

You can also look into getting a KIDD barrel, they start at around $180. But what the poster above said is correct, anything after 16" is more asthetic then performance. Also it will be much heavier. On that note I have a 20" KIDD Black Match Stainless barrel and its been great so far

I'd highly recommend taking a look at kidd barrels. its retarded how accurate it is.

I would suggest Green Mountain...I have both 16 and 18 inch barrels...
What kind of shooting will you be doing with it?

I plan on target and hunting with barrel

What is the diff in accuracy between green mountain and er shaw?

I have a couple GM's and they are great. Feddersen is pretty well regarded on rimfirecentral, but I have no first hand experience with one.

                  10/22 barrel

Kidd barrel will be over the $150.00 limit
16 inches bull Stainless GM or Clereke barrel are good for off hand or bench shooting.

For me, I doubt I'd notice the difference, possibly on a bench gun, it wont be much. If you wanna "bull" .920 & you are gonna carry it, I'd suggest a heavy tapered model, just a tad lighter. If your gonna hunt a lot & only build one gun (not assuming anything here) I'd make a lightweight build. I'm building one now, I already have most of it.

If you are going to carry the rifle a stainless bull barrel is wayyyy too heavy. I would go heavy taper or a composite type barrel. If it's going from truck to bench I think a heavy bull is the trick. I am trying to decide the same. Maybe I should take my own advice.lol

I really like the full bull barrel look and I do hike with my target 10/22 which has a heavy I mean heavy 20 inch barrel and I like the rifle being front heavy. I also and going to be using a hogue over molded stock as well. so I don't mind bull weight but I guess ill be looking for a 18 inch barrel.

GM Barrels in 16.5" or 18" are excellent. They are in my opinion the best bang for the buck....literally!

I prefer Green Mountain that ER Shaw...

and also wanted to know anyone with experience the target 10/22 with 20 in bull vs er shaw and green mnt so i know what to expect. my bull target model has been pretty dang accurate.
