    Ruger10/22 and Marlin 795

Finally got a chance to test fire the two rimfires that I purchase before Christmas last year. So disappointed with the 795, at least 3 failure to feed on every mag load. The unfired round that I manually eject has scrape marks. I only have one mag, so I can't say if it is the mag or the rifle itself.
While the 10/22 ate every brand of ammo that I fed it. I use mini mags, Winchester super-x, Remington golden bullets and Federal value pack on both rifles. I cleaned both rifle before running them. By the way this is my third 10/22. I like the smoother trigger, the weight and balance of 795. But I prefer the reliability of the 10/22. Next purchase a takedown.

The clip feeding issue was the reason I sold my Nylon 77's, the clips weren't that easy to insert correctly quickly AND they all were jam O matics. However my Nylon 66 buttstock fed tubular mag rifle never hiccups at all, same for my Stevens 87a.

I had the opposite experience, personally. I had a 10/22 Takedown that would jam in the little 10 round mags and accuracy was unimpressive, but my Marlin 795 has been flawless and a tack driver. That said, I've been considering another 10/22 because I love projects and there's a lot of customizing to do...

I have 2 795's and cant complaint. We put a scope on them and when well adjusted they shoot accurately. Some ammo seems to be dirtier than other and causes problems. I would keep the rifle as clean as possible at all times.

I have both a 795 and a Marlin 60 and neither liked the federal 36gr HP ammo, but eat everything else including Thunderbolt and Blazers.

Waiting for a couple more 795 mags from Midway, hopefully that would solve the problem.

Sorry you had a bad experience with your Marlin. To me, it's the epitome of what a .22 rifle should be.

Could be a dimple from the firing pin screwing up the chamber . Someone had dry fired my 60 a few times and I was having feed and ejection issues .

Open your action, hold the rifle with the muzzle pointed down and try to drop a round into the chamber and see if it drops freely all the way in.

I have purchased 2 Marlin 795 recently and both shoot great and accurate. Only thing I don't like is sights on Marlin.

Thanks MachineGuntongue! I just ordered 5 Marlin mags from Lanbo's $11.56 each, also ordered 5 Magpul 10 rounders for my AR, $11.43 each.

I tried what you suggested, not a problem there. Round would drop freely. Anyway I got the mags yesterday. Same thing happen but I noticed that it would only not feed properly on rounds number 4 and below. For now I'm going to try and be patient with this one and just feed it with mini-mags and see what happens after 500 rounds.

I would have expected issues with the Take Down 10/22's, after all Charter Arms AR7 "Take Downs" and all manufactures of that rifle had issues with them. I think Henry rifles has upgraded the design and eliminated the common issues but it's taken years and several manufacturers to refine that design.
Never hear anything about the Browning (I think) Papoose though.
Get a stock 10/22 and see if you what issues you have right out of the box. I've had zero shooting issues ecept with one brand of ammo. Only issue I had was a stripped receiver screw so i couldn't put the collaspable stock on it. Ruger had me send it back to them on their nickle and they replaced the compleat rifle, not just the receiver. So I have a another 10/22 NIB that I don't know what I'm going to do with cuz while I was waiting for Ruger I bought another Stainless 10/22 while they were on sale!

                              Boogeyman,

Lanbo's is a good place to know about. I looked all over for Marlin factory magazines and was so happy to find them, as usually $18.95 each at Big 5. Respect for Big 5 making into The Simpsons cartoons as an ammo reference though.

I have read the mags can cut fingers as steel edges sharp. And some prevent this by downloading to 8 or 9 to prevent cuts (until spring more forgiving). Some even use the baby uplula loader because of this. But so far no problems. I like loading mags. It can be relaxing and I am still just as excited as day one so each round going in hits the joy button in anticipation.

Loading magazines triggers the same reward button as eating a pound of crispy microwaved bacon.
