    ruger 11/22 replacement trigger info

I've got a stainless 10/22 with a bull barrel. I'm just looking to hit small targets at 50-100 yards. is it worth changing the trigger out?? and if so to what trigger?

It is worth it if you have the money to spare, if you don't, then it is not.
A nice trigger can improve your groupings.
You can have your trigger tweaked by a gunsmith to make it better might be cheaper that way.

There is no need to change the trigger itself unless you want a fancy appearance one.

To improve the trigger pull, lots of people here will recommend the complete Kidd and Volquartson kits or groups.
      These can be expensive.

For a cheap drop-in action upgrade for $40-$50 that will get you 80-90% of what the high dollar kits offer, use either a hammer and spring kit or the hammer, spring and sear kits from the above makers or Power Custom.

For a trigger job, I'd go with Brimstone. For a replacement trigger, hammer, sear, etc., I'd go with Kidd.

        Except no substitutes.

Volquartsen manufactures an awesome trigger kit for a 22/45, but from experience, I know that their 10/22 trigger kit feels like nothing more than a tweaked OEM trigger group.

FYI I ordered a new Boyd thumb hole stock for build and they cancelled the order saying no thumb hole semi stocks to Ca.

I put the Volkquartzen hammer on my 10/22. Something around $40-ish and worth every penny. Big improvement.

Anyone try the triggers from Hornet?

I can't say how they compare to Kidd or Volkquartzen,
but it's definitely a big improvement over the stock one.

They'll also buy back your stock trigger assembly, making it a very affordable upgrade.

looked at the hornet site I don't think they are for me. my ruger is a stainless model not really wanting to put a black poly trigger housing.
I'm leaning on sending it to brimstone. However is there any gunsmith local
O.C. that does 10/22? any body used one?

Brimstone is one of the best trigger jobs out there. I have a Tier 1, and it breaks very nearly as nice as my Kidd triggers. A great improvement, and if you have Que do your barrel, and bolt, you will have the makings of a great shooting rifle. Come on over to RFC, and learn more about your rifle than you thought was possible. Here are some links.

I can thread your barrel for standard 1/2 X 28 threads. On 10/22 barrels the front sight post is moved back and the muzzle threaded. Starting with the standard carbine 18" barrel OAL after work is slightly less than 17.5". Factory sights can be retained; taller sights may be needed to clear

I like my hornet and it was only $105 shipped when I bought it. You can buy the hornet unit and then sell your factory unit for $50-60 to recover some cost.

Brimstone does great work. Send it out to them.

I'm sending the trigger group to Brimstone today. Thanks to all for your insight and input. I've decided on tier 2 without a full width trigger, set for 2.5 lbs. Next I'll be shopping for a steadier set of arms and perhaps better eyes.
