Ruger mk ii question, upper play

If anyone owns one...i have a Ruger MK II that i have owned for years. Has maybe 20k rounds. Still functions fine but the upper half seems to have a lot of play; it wiggles left to right quite a bit. Doesnt seem to fit as tight as it should. Not sure how long it has been like that, i just recently noticed.

So my question is, do you guys have similar play? If you check and respond, please also let me know your ball park round count.

My wife has one, but I shoot it quite a bit. It is still very tight. I still have to use a rubber mallet to get it on and off. It is as solid as a rock when it's in place.

I don't know how many total rounds it has through it, as she inherited it from her father who owned it for many years. But I would think the amount of play would be more a function of how many times it has been disassembled/reassembled rather than the number of rounds fired. I've taken it apart about 20 times in the last year. I don't know how many times my father-in-law did.

Not uncommon! You can make a shim from soda can but the best way is to send it to Ruger and for about $85.00 they'll fix it properly.

      DON'T PLACE IN A VISE!

The lower is the issue. They can deform over time and use. The curved support that hugs the barrel opened up on you a bit.

I guess I can't advise a bubba fix without raising an alarm here, but you can either get creative in the shop or send it to Ruger like someone said. If you find a way to gradually bend it back evenly to spec, that would do it though. I wouldn't shim it, though some people advise using JB WELD to shim AR Lowers that are loose fitting... I wouldn't do that either. I wouldn't put in a vise either, but I might TAP it with a soft hammer
        (not with the upper attached).
