You couldn't pay me to buy another one of those. The worst, most unreliable rimfire pistol I have ever dealt with. I guess they make great training aids because you will average a malfunction every magazine. Doesn't matter which recoil spring you install, or even using CCI when you can find it as the manual recommends. -
I like my Mosquito (All black). I have had it for about 4 years and I paid $239.00 + fees at the time. From what ive seen, if you can get a new one for around $300, your doing alright.
At first, my Mosquito would only eat Mini Mags but after a little shooting and switching springs (the gun came with 2) those issues ended pretty quickly as it will eat 500rd bricks of the cheap stuff with minimal hang ups these days. I still prefer the "pop" I get when shooting mini mags but mine works pretty good with the cheap stuff.
At the time of purchase, my friend and I were both in the market for 22 pistols so I bought the Mosquito and my buddy bought a Walther P22 and not only did the Sig feel SO much better in my hand, I also shot circles around him.
If I was in the market all over again for a 22 pistol, I would still buy the Mosquito.Last edited by Garyson1311; 01-09-2014, 2:23 PM.Comment

What your post tells me is that with the sig mosquito, it matters:Sigh...
...two more posters who have to chip in and and bash the Sig Mosquito...
Without objective specifics:
- Ammo used?
- Read manual?
- Oriented spring correctly?
- Cleaned before first use?
- Clean a couple time during 200-500 round break-in?
- Lube the slide oil port?
As I've said in other threads - if you really don't like YOUR Sig Mosquito, then STFU and quit your whining and sell it to me for $100.00.
=8-)
-What ammo is used
-You have to read the manual to make it work
-There is a spring that can be oriented incorrectly
-Failing to clean before the first use matters
-Cleaning several times during a break in period matters
-Lubing it correctly is essential
Or you could buy a ruger MKIII and:
Not have to worry about what ammo you use
You don't need to read the manual to know how to use it
There is no spring that can be installed incorrectly that makes it not work
Failing to clean it before first use does not affect reliability or accuracy
The gun just works, no break in necessary
It doesn't have a critical lube point. Lube the bolt at all and it will work for bricks and bricks of ammo.
Granted, take down is tricky. But it can go a long time before you need to break it down to clean it.
Ruger MKIII is a far better pistol.Comment

I love how people who defend poorly built firearms always have a laundry list check sheet of things to do just to get it to function like any other well built competing firearm.Sigh...

Well, I am afraid I fall into the never would buy a SIG 22 Mosqutio group. My experience is based on only one pistol, but this gun was brand new, bought with two mags, came with the extra recoil spring etc. The pistol NEVER worked in any sort of reliable fashion---we tried EVERY kind of 22 ammo we could get our hands on (pre-panic, plenty around)---changed springs, etc. The pistol would not reliably extract and was prone to double-feeds---it would not run thru a single magazine full without jamming. It was bought by a close friend and purchased because it was a SIG---should be good, right?
Regarding this used Mosquito---I would not buy it until it is proved to work by test firing---there are quite a few bum Mosquitos out there if you read the internet. Good luck. And yes, Ruger makes superior 22 pistols---they work!Comment
