Rather than just buying a new set of rings for the grooved 3/8 reciever I was thinking of using a base that would go from 3/8 rimfire to Weaver what do you use or should I just spring for new 1" 22 rings?

3/8 rimfire to Weaver base

Some seem to think that the 3/8 dovetails do not hold a scope solid. I however had never had a problem using 3/8 dovetail mounts as long as they are properly installed..
To each his own though..Piccatinny rail does look cooler though
UTG also makes a cheap adapter..Comment

I've got the UTG "One Piece" Integral Airgun mount on my Marlin 795's 3/8 dovetail.
They work great and there is no way they are going to budge.
They are the most suggested rings for the 795 so I would think that they would be highly advocated for any dovetail application.Comment

True but some of the name brands have speciality made bases that fit that particular rifle, the Marlin 795 comes to mind.
Joe as you noted above DIP or BLK unless I'm missing something. The B-Square I mentioned is a universal base set.Last edited by Tom-ADC; 01-08-2014, 8:25 PM.US Navy Retired, NRA Lifetime member. Member CRPA

If you go with a base it may matter depending on the gun. If you go with the tip off rings it will not matter at all. The rings are often better b ecause the base and Weaver style rings can start to look bulky and out of place if it is a slim gun or a small scope.
If yours ejects out the side I think the BLK would be fine. Cruise around a little on rimfirecentral.com and see what you find. Good Luck
I just noticed you are in SD, if you are near me I have DIP bases on two guns you could check out sometime.Comment
