    Savage FV-SR issues, please help

I just picked up my new fvsr from Reed's on the 4th and I noticed something was a little off about the bolt and the breech of the gun. I have heard that the fvsr has a bad finish, but I am not sure what to think about this. I think either the distributor sent them a used rifle or Savage's inspectors didn't catch this stuff. I have included some pictures below. I really wish I wasn't in a rush so I could have done a better inspection of the rifle before I left the store. Please let me know what you think of this. Any help would be appreciated.

What's that gap in the second and third pic. I don't know if it should be there since I can't relate the pics to the rifle but it doesn't seem to fit well in that one spot.

Also after reading the post again it seems you are worried about the finish; there are a lot of machining lines still evident but that is acceptable when you buying mass production and not expensive. If an AR looked like that I'd pass. Now in pic three the bottom one you can see where someone took a buffer and knocked off the rough edge along the metal lines, its the different metal tone appearance. The issue I would have is I don't see evidence of any finish. that's a spot waiting to rust.

My suggestion is to send gun back to manufacture and state the finish appears inconsistent and could even be unfinished in spots. I can't see that this rifle would have been reissued as new, manufactures would just destroy as it is too costly to fix and that might happen to this one.

Thanks for the advice, I will be contacting Savage tomorrow morning. I was more worried about the spot near the bolt serial number, it looks like it was either knocked with a hammer or somebody was cycling the action really hard. If I end up sending it back, will I need to deal with my ffl? Also the rifle didn't come with a proof round casing, is this normal for savage?

they are mass produced and relatively cheap. Shoot it first and see how it does on paper first. Mine looks like **** but shoots great..lol

If you want it fixed, don't shoot it. One less issue they can raise.

Get RMA number from manufacturer and send direct to them, it's allowed.

It looks like someone may have tried to remove the bolt improperly by not pulling the trigger far enough back and tried to force it. Was the rifle in the box when you got it or assembled and on display and/or have you struggled to remove the bolt since you owned it?

My bolt does not look like that; my rifle was in the box when I purchased it.

Unfortunately I already fired about 100 rounds through it.

I got the rifle in a box and I haven't struggled to assemble or disassemble it. I wasn't rough cycling it either. I called Savage this afternoon and they told me that the bolt looking like that was normal wear since they shoot the rifle at the factory. I still find it odd that it would be in this condition.

I am going to send them images of the bolt and breech to see if they will do anything about it. I know its only a $260 rifle, but I still think that this is unacceptable for a finished product.
