Just an upgrade to my old Marlin 60 UPDATE post 14

Back in the 80's my Dad went to the Kmart in Monrovia and picked up a new rifle and came home with it. (Gosh doesn't that sentence sound weird in all ways today? Sorry TJed my own thread)
    He purchased a Marlin 60.
A few years later Dad let me use it if i wanted to at the ripe old age of 16. (Once again like a different world) so the old rifle was my first firearm. Ive kept it all these years but i haven't fired it for at least 15 years.
I was seeing all the marlin 60 threads and went out to visit the old girl and decided to get her a new hat. So i bought at mount and put my a leupold vx-1 3x9 i had laying around on it. Im going to take her up to west end sunday i think and see how she shoots.
    So here she is.

Cool man. My first rifle was a M60 from Kmart. Back when 50 rounds of .22 was about a dollar.

What kind of mount is that? I have two Marlin 60's (one is called a Glenfield, which I think is Monkey Wards (Montgomery Wards)).

I know some of the high end air guns have the same 3/8" dovetail that the 60 has...

I really like these guns - they make me look like I'm a great shooter.

For her age, she looks great. I hope you keep using her. Don't leave her in the corner.

It is a utg airgun/.22 mount. Seems really solid. We will see when i shoot it. I got it off amazon and most commentors said it was GTG,

My uncle gave me his Glenfield with the Tapco scope (from the 80s) and besides the foggy glass the rifle looks like I just took it out of the box.

I hope to pass it down to my son when he's old enough. Enjoy yours.

This one has never had a scope until today. My dad and i used to kill crows with it farmlands near the house back in the day. Open sights.

It'll shoot just like it did years ago. Good gun.

Model 60s are great. Mine is about the most accurate .22 I have.

Very nice to have your Dads rifle. Keep it forever..

You really should take that Alabama glass and and shoot it after what happened the other Day. Put it out of its misery

Just razzing ya. I actually like Alabama..The Huskers stink anymore..

The marlin isnt going anywhere, the glass almost broke on the 2nd in my hand due to issues out of my control. I really need to care less about some things.

Just purchased a Leupold VX-II 3-9x40 scope yesterday to replace the one in mine.

OP - Thanks for the reminder and motivation of your post!

And she broke. I'd gotten the scope dialed in and was starting to use copious amounts of bulk 22 and the trigger stopped reseting. I pulled it at the range and found broken plastic. Day over after 200 rounds. Came home and found this

So im off to numrich. This seems to be a common problem.
                            The journey continues

I am guessing the plastic became brittle due to age. But that's purely a guess. Heck, throw in a new recoil spring while you are at it.
