    Winchester Model 190 ???

anyone have one of these or have experience with them?
I have the opportunity to get one that has been in the family since the dawn of time, but i know it has some issues (firing).
If you suck with irons you will suck with optics. The difference is the aimpoint will allow you to suck faster and a scope will give you a closer look at how much you suck.
AR's have finally become full blown "men's barbie dolls" now with fashion accessories.

I picked one up used about ten years ago.

Horrible trigger. Hard to be accurate with it with the trigger performance.

My son, who was ten at the time liked shooting it, but in retrospect it left him with bad habits due to the heavy, sticky trigger. He used it as a plinker and used to chase tin cans and golf balls around the desert with it. He liked the fact that it had a tube magazine that was easy to load.

Ultimately he ended up breaking the charging handle on it and it eventually disappeared in the back of the safe. Still have it, just never bothered to fix it.

I have one that was stored in a rifle case since the late Eighties. Pulled it from the back of a closet in 2012, ran a bore brush through it and it ran like a champ. I don't think the trigger is terrible, but it can be improved. Easy to work on, there are a few disassembly/assembly videos on You-Tube you definitely need to watch. The bolt/spring assembly is a pain in the A.
