Recommendation for 10/22 sling mounts & sling

    Hey guys and gals.

I have a regular 10/22 blued w/ wooden stock rifle. I'm looking to mount a sling on it. It looks like I have to tap the butt stock.

I'm wondering what solutions are out there.

I'm also looking for recommendations on slings - I'd like to keep it simple.
I'm fine w/ inexpensive MADE IN USA upgrades. I'm not trying to spend a ton of money on this rifle.

    Thanks in advance,
    BC

I bought a kit from midwayusa had all the stuff in it for mounts. Someone made a "how to" thread around here. I installed sling mounts on my PWS Raptor (laminated) stock, wasn't easy due to the finish. I took my time, it came out nice. Shooting outdoors is a lot easier without setting down my rifle!
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

        Sling Hardware
The barrel band hardware prevents having to install a front stud into the stock.

Won't this set up put more unnecessary stress on the barrel which could result to shift on POI?

If you run the barrel band stud, a lot of people take a dremel and clearance out the top of band so it can't touch the barrel. The band is pretty much only there so that the 10/22 carbine model looks similar to the M1 Carbine

I would take it off and test accuracy before I did that. Some shoot better with it on putting pressure on the barrel.

My target shooter conversion "builds" are just that. My stock plinkers are equipped with barrel bands and sling hardware some direct from the factory with slings and are not target issue. Never had a problem. There are so many other variables which can & do effect accuracy that the barrel band is the least of my concerns.
