Savage MK FV-SR II scope issue.

I bought a scope for this rifle and the rail was too big too fit it on. It looks bigger than a standard Picattiny rail. Any ideas? Savage bolt action 22LR model MKII FV-SR.

What rings are you using for the scope? You using dovetail .22lr style rings on a picatinny rail because they won't fit. Give us some more info.

It appears to be standard picatinny rails.

I'm curious as to what rings are being used also.

I have a Savage FV-SR and my 1913 Picatinny spec A.R.M.S. quck release throw lever rings/Leupold scope drop right on it with both rail width and slot spacing right on spec.

Although Weaver rings usually work on 1913 Picatinny bases, I have seen some Weaver rings that are machined a bit off that won't fit Picatinny rails.

I have some cheap weaver quad lock rings on my Savage MKII and it has a DIP base on it, they fit like a charm. Not sure other than to buy some different rings.

It came with this rail on top, and I'm not really sure what else I can do to it. I am not very familiar with these things.

Keep the base, buy new rings. Problem solved. Are you attached to the rings for some reason? Any reason you couldn't buy a new set of burris, weaver, or otherwise.

Used a set of Warne PA on my FV-SR, also worked and fit great.

Do you have a caliper so you can do some measuring and compare what you have to the 1913 picatinny spec? Or can you at least post pictures of your rings and base showing them not fitting?

Turns out the rings and mounting bas were too small. Went to Big5 and tried a new set of rings on it. Perfect fit and I am in like Flynn!!! Thanks everyone!!
