Anyone have an ATI stock on a Marlin 60?

I'm trying to get my wife to actually enjoy shooting more than she does. She likes shooting my P95 because it's very low on recoil. That being said, she doesn't like shooting my Marlin 60 because of the weight. It has the original wood stock and a 3-9x scope.

I'm thinking of taking both off and getting this ATI fiberglass stock and a small but reliable red dot. I'm not one for the 'tactical' look but if it reduces weight and makes it easier on my wife, I'm all for it. So, does anyone have one and, if so, is it significantly lighter than the original wood stock?

I have that and fitment wasnt the greatest. I don't recall it being lighter than the wood stock. It's been a while since I have brought it out.

You might try looking into a Thumbhole stock for the Marlin 60. I have a Boyds on one of my 60's, it's not lighter but the grip configuration might help her support the rifle better.

This a walnut stock, I think all the Boyds made today are laminate.

Option (B) strat cut away some of the factory stock to make it lighter.

Option (C) All of the females in my family enjoy shooting the Browning BL22, it's much more compact and much lighter.

Where do you live? Maybe I make a suggestion? I own both the Marlin 60 in wood stock and marlin 795 with synthetic stock. I enjoy model 60 BECAUSE of the heavier wood stock.

My suggestion if youre up for it aand if you arent to far is a trade for your model 60 for my 795. less than 300 rounds fired, always kept clean and about 4 months old.

I also have a inexpensive $40 red dot on it.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'd really just like to go with a lighter stock, if possible.

Hmmm, not sure if I'd want to trade but let me think about it. I'm in SoCal. Where are you and how many mags does it come with?

I'm in victorville but often drive past Rancho Cucamonga to go visit parents in Lakewood/Cerritos.

1 Mag, just like it comes when new.

I have original marlin box, paperwork and whatever was in there as if it was new.

I do not. But that is the ugliest thing I have ever seen

I would get her into a weight lifting program before I subjected her to that Hideous thing

I agree. Get a Boyds thumbhole. My wife is very small and she handles it just fine. Mine even has the longer barrel and mag too..

I put one on my model 60 for my 8 year old son. He liked the pistol grip and the more tacticool look. It did make the rifle feel slightly heavier to the front as it seemed to change the center of gravity. The whole rifle does feel lighter overall though and is easy to control with the pistol grip. We are now getting him into a Boyd's as he wants a change. I was just getting ready to list the stock in the buy/sell section. Make me an offer if you want to save a few bucks.....

If you decide to get the ATI stock they are on clearance at Midway.

And to think I pulled the synthetic stocks on both mine and the gf's 795's in favor of the hunter boyd stocks, she loves shooting hers.

The Boyd's Evolution stock is just a smidgeon lighter than the thumbhole or hunter style stocks, FYI. I find the cheek rest is too high for the stock iron sights, but it works pretty well with tech sights or a scope/red-dot.

I put the ATI on my Marlin Mod 60 and the fit was terrible. Felt all wrong... This model of rifle just doesn't fit well with the tactical look...
