    Help Wanted monthly Rimfire matches.

Hey all Izzy is stepping down as one of the monthly Rimfire match runners and me and Peterrabbit need your help. If we can get 3-4 of you to run 2 matches a year (they do not have to be consecutive) it would help us out greatly. We have a standard formula on how they are run so its pretty much choose your targets, post how you want it shot, and score the month priors match. Easy as we whatever you thing easy is.
If you want to help and please only if you want to help please reply ... and please don't respond if you can't or wish you could
id just like only people who want to help post a reply.

The only requirement is that you need to be living in CA

      rules are simple
we shoot rimfire rifles and pistols from 25 to 100 yards

you choose what targets and how many shots on each target along with the scoring

the shooters will than go to the range any range and shoot, post their scores and thats about it

I can volunteer but 99.9% of the time I'm on an Ipad. I can't post targets so I can say something like, "For the Feb 2014 25-yard irons, use the Dec 2013 target, etc."

I'd have to copy and paste the rules from Izzy's posts to run a monthly match. I can add up the scores and either send them to you or PeteRabbits.

If this will do, either you or Pete can feel free to PM me. However, I don't have the ability to make a sticky for the monthly match or any access to the points database. I'm still not sure how the cumulative scores add up.

Somebody would need to show me how to do that.

I'm in, just let me know the details.

We need to use targets that are not under copyright laws also, right? No posting a scan of NRA targets for example.

Are we still planning on doing a yearly points total also? If we are maybe one person should handle that while the monthly targets are passed around.

Some info for those of you who are considering volunteering to do this. There are many, many targets in the archives of the previous matches. None are copywrighted so you can freely copy those targets (all are in PDF) and use them for any of the matches. Peterabbits also has a link to an online site where you can produce targets if you like.

For anyone who wants to track the yearly point totals I can email the spreadsheet that I used to you for that purpose. It is fairly straight forward for those that are familiar with using spreadsheets. You could also just do it on paper, not much work involved its just a running total of each shooters score each month. 5 points for 1st, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, 2 for 4th, 1 for 5th for each of the targets shot and each shooter gets .5 points for particating in the monthly match.

Just PM your email address to me if you are interested, take a look at the spreadsheet before you decide. "Easy Peezy" (from the caddy in the movie "The Greatest Game Ever Played).

I would be willing to help out, but I'm not as good with a computer as I am with a pistol. Let me know what I can help with.

All that for this little ol' rimfire match? Seems pretty straight forward how it is now, to me at least.
No kidding. It's nice the way it is. Simple.

                        I can help.
I can do the basics on Excel, so I can do the monthly/annual points tally.

mrrabbit anything and I mean anything you can do would be welcome
I always thought if we had 4-6 standard monthly templates the matches would be easy to run
that way 2 to 3 times a year you would run into the same monthly match
an organizer then could tweak 1 or 2 of the relays to his or her liking but not have to plan the others
I will PM you later and maybe we can talk

I certainly don't have a dog in this fight. In order for me to generate a match for a single month it took me around an hour to edit a previous match post for the month with the previous months winners included, find the targets (all available on Calguns, from saved files on my computer, or the Web), and post the new match announcement. Tracking the yearly totals took about 30 minutes to enter data and 5 minutes or less to post the results.

I provide this info so anyone considering becoming a coordinator has an idea of the time involved on a monthly basis to run the match in its current form, 2-3 hours per month when there were a large number of shooters posting multiple targets. Happy New Year to All.
