    Marlin 795 Boyd's stock problems

I just picked up a pair of Marlin 795s, and am planning on taking one of my kids to an Appleseed shoot. I'm a big guy so I bought a Boyd's stock, which I just installed today.

It was 100% drop in, but the barreled action has too much room. If I grab the muzzle and work it from side to side I get some play within the forestock. I can't feel any movement if I wiggle the trigger guard or receiver though.

Should I try to bed the receiver? I have to say I like the feel of the stock. Just would like to tighten it up a bit. Was thinking of a bit of cork shim stock.

That is the way my Marlin 60 fits too. I however do not worry about it. My 60 is still very accurate the way it is setup. I cannot say this for sure as I have not tried what you are thinking. But putting something in there may actually cause a loss of accuracy? I think I like the barrel and magazine Free Floating out there..

I really like the Boyds. Mine is the Rimfire model in Pepper color. Which did you go with? Put up a pic..

They are a little heavier than original stocks but I like them as they give a more substantial "real" rifle like feeling to the .22 rifles..

Interesting didn't have that issue on either of mine.
But then again mine are an older generation from before they were 100% drop in..
