    Thinking about a rifle plinker.

    Hey guys,
I want to pick up a fun .22lr for paper punching. Something that runs well and has a tacicool look about it. The market seems to have a lot to choose from. What are some of your likes/dislikes. I have a AR lower but don't want to build it into a .22.
I just want to buy it scope/dot it and punch paper.
    Thoughts???
    Thanks

Ruger 10/22 you regret it. Excellent and it will last forever almost maintenance free except for cleanings

I've been wanting one of the Marlin 795 LTR rifles since I heard about them and the Appleseed shoots.

I don't have a 10/22 so I really can't relate. But I have one that I like a lot (my kids like it too) - S&W 15-22. One of my better buys I would say. You can make it more tacticool if the stock configuration doesn't cut it for you.

                  Good luck!

Since you want to just buy it, add a scope and shoot, look into something already built. Like a S&W M&P 15-22.

If you want to build it and customize, I would go the Ruger 10/22 route. Personally I have a 10/22 and never not recommend it, but I would like to buy a S&W in the future and/or build a dedicated .22 AR.

Speaking of which, another option is simply build a dedicated .22 upper for your AR lower. Unless you want a dedicated .22 firearm (another gun), that's a good option. Just swap uppers when you want to go rimfire.

                        10/22 and m&p15-22. I have both.

Out of the box the ruger needs tech sights and a hogue stock. The s&w needs nothing. For me it's hard to say. I love them both and can't go wrong on either. Also got a savage fv-sr. Super accurate and fun to shoot. In fact I have bolt 22's, auto 22's, and pump 22's. Only thing I need us a lever.

Really hard call on a 22. They're all so much fun.

Pick one?? Probably 10/22 but you'll need a dozen 22's to be satisfied

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

                            S&W M&P 15/22 or Ruger 10/22.

                            Can't go wrong with either.

+1. If you want to upgrade the barrel later on to more of a target type rifle, the 10/22 might be your better option.
