    Marlin xt22 scope mount

Just bought a Marlin XT 22 at turners. I would like to mount a scope but need to find the right mount. Any suggestions?

Two #12 Weaver bases or DIP makes a one-piece rail. I have the #12 bases on my three XT-22s. Personal preference.

nice choice on gun man. Mine is ready for pick up today as well but wont be in town for couple days but I cant wait to get mine. I believe it has dovetail rail in it so no need for anything else. Just buy a rimfire scope, most will have rings with dovetail mounts.

Weaver bases w/ Bushnell 2-7x AR rimfire scope on my XT22

Get the DIP mount. I have 3, excellent product. Buy once and don't look back.

I have a Marlin XT-22 and it comes ready for a scope. It does not have a scope mount but it took the scope that I attached to it. Maybe that's what junior40er called "dovetail rail" but I just don't know the term.

This is the scope that I have from Amazon:

But when I bought it a week or so ago, it was for $30 + tax. Not sure why the price was raised.

              Good luck!

Yes, the Marlin XT-22 has a dovetail rail.

I got my son a Marlin XT-22 for his birthday a couple of months ago. I'm trying to get him to spend some of his birthday and Christmas card money from relatives on a scope, so I've been doing some research.

My local WalMart has this Bushnell Riflescope, 4x32, ".22 Rim Fire" with rings for $29.97. Looks like it has rings that mount on the dovetail rail.

The local Walmart also had this Tasco 3-9x32 .22 Riflescope w/ Rings for $39.40. However, the package says it has rings for the Weaver base.

I'm really not sure what's the way to recommend him to go. He also wants to get a bipod. I believe he's got about $100-125 to spend. He doesn't really need the bipod as I bought a rifle bench rest and we have a couple bags as well. But I really want to leave the purchase price-level up to him - I just don't want to have him buy something cheap that's going to break easily or make him unsatisfied.

I wouldn't buy either of those scopes, personally owning the Bushnell and a different model, cheap Tasco. They work, but for the same price, there is a better scope. A decent, inexpensive rimfire scope IMO is the Simmons 22 Mag. It's certainly not the best, but it works for the price. My daughter can hit 2" and 3" silhouette targets at 50 yards with the middle one on every shot.

Simmons .22 Mag TruPlex Reticle Rimfire Riflescope with Rings, 4x32mm
Simmons .22 Mag TruPlex Reticle Rimfire Riflescope with Ring, 3-9x32mm
Simmons .22 Mag Truplex Reticle Adjustable Objective Rimfire Riflescope with Rings, 3-9x32mm

If going past 50-75 yards, I'd get something better like these. You will need to get rings too though:
                    Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 3-9 x 40 Black Matte Riflescope (BDC 150)- $150
Nikon ProStaff Rimfire 4 x 32 Black Matte Riflescope (Nikoplex)- $100
Mueller APV AO Rifle Scope, Black, 4.5-14 x 40mm- $125. The Mueller is a lot of scope for .22LR, but it is a dang good scope for the price. I have one on my XT-22 Magnum and it works very well for 100 yard shots (as it should). I'd go with this one.

So I bought the DIP rail and got the Simmons scope on sale from Amazon. Now I just have to wait for me 10 day wait to be up and I can mount them on the rifle.

I've been doing some research and searching. One of my LGS had me going down the wrong path: They had me getting a dovetail to weaver base, and then buying weaver rings.

While that may work, it is not ideal for the lowest possible mounting, which is advised for the best cheek weld.

This link shows many mounting solutions: 3/8" dovetail Rimfire/22 rings

Personally, I like the Leupold Rifleman Rimfire 3/8" Ringmount (Matte or Gloss)

That's the direction I'm going to recommend for my son. I'm also going to offer to go halves with him on a Leupold VX-1 Rimfire 2-7x28mm which retails for $230.

Got my son some Tech Sights for the Marlin XT (MXT200). It has a mini-mount for the rare site that uses the existing tapped holes above the bolt, and replaces the front site.

Very nice hardware, and highly recommended by Appleseed.

He did not remove the rear left site as there was no need.
