May not be of alot of interest to alot of people but it is somewhat hard to get, (and they are expensive), magazines for the Challenger II and III Series .22s from Browning.
So I went to the local shop and did the Buck Mark mag mod. The main difference in the Challenger II VS the Buck Mark mags is the Buck Mark does not have the notch for the mag catch that the Challenger II uses at the bottom or base of the grips. I used a dremel and a hand file to put that notch in the Buck Mark mag. I then cold blued the bare metal back with some Oxpho cold blue..
The Buck mark modified mags stick out the bottom and the original Challenger ones fit flush with the grips. I like how the modded Buck Mark ones stick out though. Easier to get a hold of. I ran four consecutive Mags as fast as I could pull the trigger with two ammo types and the modified mag ran flawlessly..
Anyway if you happen to have a Challenger II or III and do not want to pay 70.00 for a original mag, this may help you out..74.00 is what the last original one I tried to bid on, brought on Gun Broker anyway...
The Buck Mark mag I used was a brand new Browning made mag, not a aftermarket..After the mod the mags will still work in the Buck Mark series too of course..
Heres a few pics. Original Challenger mag on left and modified Buck Mark on right and last photo of the Buck Mark mag inserted in my Challenger II..
I might add, the Browning Challenger II is a very beautiful and great shooting little Pistol. I have only had it a few weeks but love it..
