    1920 Remington Model 12

    Hey guys,

My grandfather is gifting me his old model 12. My folks back in Indiana are taking care of the shipping with the help of an FFL there. The FFL told them that the rifle would not be california compliant because it can hold more than 10 rounds (I presume because it can hold more than 10 rounds of .22 short?) Is there any validity to this information?

I am unsure as I do not live in CA anymore. But I do not think tube magazines capacitys are restricted there in CA..I am sure someone else will know for sure. But I think you will be fine..

I used to have a Model 12. Nice little Firearms..

Yep, you're right. I tried to do some searching before asking, but I couldn't find anything. I wasn't using good search terms.

          clarification...

The exemption only applies to .22 caliber tubular magazine on any type of firearm [PC 16740(b)] and to any caliber tubular magazine on a lever-action firearm [PC 16740(c)].

          Penal Code 16740
As used in this part, "large-capacity magazine" means any ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
          (a) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
          (b) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
          (c) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm.
