Are Ammo Boxes Really Necessary For Storage

Just curious if it's necessary to have an ammo box to store it properly---Or just any little box in a dry area?---Thanks

Necessary? no but it's better to have a sealed storage with dry packs to keep elements out. Especially if you live in a wet or humid environment.

easy solution -> tuperware from 99 cents store and some silica packets from the shoes you buy
        I mainly shoot .22lr, 9mm,45 acp, 357 & 38, 12G, 7.62x39, .308, .223/556, 7.62x54r, 300 win mag, 8x57

Yes, ammo boxes are a necessity IMO. Don't buy more than you need though, otherwise you'll feel the urge to fill up the extra cans with ammo. I've been guilty of this many times.

I concur, they are always half full then over flowing until you buy more or larger cans.
It's sure a good way to build up your supply

If you are storing ammo for long term use sealed ammo cans are a must. .22 lr and other rimfire cartridges are not sealed up as well as centerfire rounds so it's critical they stay moisture free.

Bottom line, store your .22 lr ammo in either 50 cal or 50 cal cans with a dessicant dehumidifier.

Put one of these in your ammo can and your ammo is going to last many lifetimes(what I use).

thieves love for you to put all your ammo in boxes, especially the ones that are labeled and have handles.

Just got 3 of the SAW cans because my belted magnums had overflowed their 50 cal cans. I then sold the 50s and a spare 30 to remove the temptation of more ammo.
