Winchester Model 67

Hi,

I've got a Winchester Model 67 in .22 and I'd like to put a scope on it.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a mount and scope. I like the look of blued steel better than black plastic.

From everything I read, I may have to have a custom mount fabricated.

What's the best scope for a .22?

Other than making some kind of mount to attach a scope to the stock or drill & tap the receiver; I don't think it could be done. Those Win 67 are a classic, collectable rifle. I have one. Don't butcher the gun.

I think the only possibility would be to drill holes in the barrel and mount a long eye relief scope. It could be done but honestly what I'd do instead is put marbles bullseye sights on it. You'll need a new front sight also. I forgot what size front sight you'll need. I'll have see what size I have on mine.

I redid the stock and put sling swivels on it. It's a great shooter.

Back in the 1970's my grandpa drilled and tapped our 67 to accept Lyman peep sights. It looks like hell and you can't remove the bolt without dismounting the rear sight.

Shoots real nice tho ...

If you are handy you could fit a base onto a dovetail that would sit where the rear sight normally goes. That would look pretty silly but then mine would look less silly next to yours!

I will fall into the no scope camp - it's your gun so do what you want. Just note that my 67 has been in the family for 4-5 generations so I'm loathe to change anything as a matter of principle. I hope your 67 lasts longer than mine!

Another vote for leaving it, maybe pick up a new Savage and scope it? My kids just got a 67 from their grandpa I was thinking about redoing everything but decided to clean it up and leave it.

I'm inclined to leave it alone. It was my father's rifle and spent most of the time in the attic. It's in better condition than any I've seen on the web.

I saw a few pics of this model with a Mossberb No. 2M4-D scope and I thought it looked good. I think these were offered as an option. If I was to scope it, it would be something like the Mossberg setup so I would still have the iron sights.

Due to my old eyes, a scope is very appealing.

I received one from my dad. He got it in the early 50's. Best shooting 22 I have ever shot. Dead Accurate. Would like to replace the firing pin and ejector but not sure where to look. ??

Any suppliers out there carry parts for these odl 22's ?
