Need help with my CZ 455 Lux

I want to remove the rear ramp so I can use a 50 mm objective scope with medium rise mounts. The problem is that the scope needs to come back further for the sake of focal point distance.

I've taken the two mounting screws out to no avail ... it's still stuck tightly.

Apparently it's held on by some sort of adhesive. Has anyone gotten one off without damaging either the barrel or the ramp?

If it's held on with CA, then heat should take care of it ... but if it was spot welded, then I'll need to figure another way around it.

    TIA, Bill

Heat the area up to ~300*. This should allow you to remove the screws/sight. The residue left on the barrel can be cleaned off with MEK or acetone.

Thank you, gents. Case solved (and quickly, too!). I wasn't willing to grind it off if it was welded, but 300 F. isn't hard to come by. With judicious application of a propane mini-torch, I could even skip the dis-assembly.

Oh well, I'm off the Harbor Freight for a plastic faced hammer.

Turns out I couldn't get to HF ... an upper respiratory infection has kept me homebound since I posted originally. That's probably a good thing; since all the "encouragement" it took was maybe 5 seconds worth of Mapp gas and it fell right off.

Learn by my experience: make certain that it is situated over a heat-resistant surface and just plan to re-paint the engraving before you install it again.

Does anyone have a favorite material to fill the screw holes with?

Does filling the holes with something that weighs either more or less than the weight of the two screws have an impact ... any impact at all?

I'm trying to gear up for some competition shooting ... free or cheap at first. My understanding is that the local "pea shooters" are darned tough competitors.
