Is there an easy way (i.e. no drilling/gunsmith required) to mount a basic scope to an old Stevens Model 53B (Buckhorn)? (It's a basic single shot bolt action 22 rifle from the 1940s.)
I noticed there are two threaded holes roughly 2 1/3" apart on the rear of the receiver. The holes themselves are just over 1/8" diameter, and are angled at about a 45 degree angle (unlike most scope mount holes that are angled straight up on the top of the receiver). I'm not sure if they're an outdated style that won't fit anything today, or if they're even for a scope mount in the first place.

I was looking around on the interwebs, and found this Weaver Side Mount Scope Base (it says it fits the 53B), but I have no idea how that would actually attach, or where to go from there (they say it fits this, but I have no idea how that would actually work).
I'd like to keep it under $50-75 (including a cheap Tasco scope or something along those lines). I was hoping to get it as a Christmas gift for someone, but if there aren't any options in that price range then I'll probably just get them something else entirely.
EDIT: Finally got the picture working.
