Which conversion kit for the Glock is the best?

    Hi,

I have been looking at the .22lr Glock conversion kits for a very long time and now that all the semi autos that I have are G17/19 I really need to get a couple kits for training purposes. Unfortunately, it seems that these conversions can be tricky and with using them it is very hard to figure out which one to buy.

I have already searched the forum and couldn't find all the reviews I was looking for. As far as I know the three kits are by Advantage Arms, Tactical Solutions and Zev Tech. For any of you that have experience with one or even better multiple conversions please let us know what you think of it, what ammo worked and whether you thought the conversion was reliable enough to train with?

    Thanks!

Big Daddy Hoffman 1911 has the answer.

I have a Advantage Arms .22 conversion kit for my G19 and I am fairly happy with it. Its high quality and reasonably reliable with the ammo it likes which is CCI Mini Mag 40gr solids and Remington Golden bullets.

Its really fun to shoot and it gives you trigger time for cheap, it's money well spent.

Bottom line I would get a AA kit. MidwayUSA is now letting you backorder 5000 round cases of CCI Mini Mag solids, so I would get in line for one of those. I got my case in about three weeks from putting in the backorder.

AA kit is good to go. You just have to know that it likes certain ammo. This is also disclosed in the brochure it comes with. When I had mine, it liked Remington GB and CCI the best. It wouldn't cycle Winchester ammo.

As long as the right ammo is used, it is a reliable trainer.

        Good luck!

Another vote for the AA kit. It runs like a champ on almost anything except Federal bulk (which AA warns you about right up front). I keep trying to get the Remington GB haters to send me theirs if they don't want it as this kit eats it like candy, but no luck yet...

The one NOT to touch is a Ciener kit, if you happen to run into one. Not that likely, but you never know.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

I am selling my AA G17 kit. Search for threads started by me if you want to see pictures. I liked it, but later bought a dedicated 22LR pistol

I have my AA kit on a GEN 1 G17, it works but it needed some break in.
I had to run several mags through it and polish the feed ramp a bit.
Plus it demands cleanliness, once it gets dirty it jams.

I like it, but it is a mistress that requires care.

No problem, MiniMags are by far my AA kits favorite ammo. It's also clean ammo so you don't have to clean it as often as shooting Golden Bullets or other cheap bulk packs.

This thread got me looking into an AA kit for a Gen 3 Glock 19. Sucks that Advantage Arms is right here in Valencia, CA...but you can't buy directly from them. If you guys don't mind sharing where you bought your kits? My Google skills end up with places that advertise them but no stock and an estimate of 3 to 6 months before delivery? Is that normal for these kits?

+1 on the AA kit. Have one for my g21, work great with CCI mini mags. Was at Reeds Indoor Range in Santa Clara last week, they had a bunch of em in stock. Not sure if they ship though. Around $315 I think....

I've looked at those conversion kits too. I have a Glock 19 and Beretta makes one for the 92FS.

But for not much more, I could get a Buck Mark, or Mark III. Seems like a no-brainer. Am I overlooking something?

AA. Bought it NIB for $275 shipped from GunBroker. That included an extra mag. Works fine with mini mags and wolf MT.

scotchblade - the idea of training with the same gun is what draws people to the conversion kits. Some people prefer it.
